Just above the speed sign through the window :D

The car looks fantastic, well done. What sort of paint did you use on the tyres?

not much of an update, havent touched the car since last MRA round.

did Festival of Sporting Cars today at SMP soouth. was in the race class 'historic and invited sports cars'
qualified 5th out of 21 with a 1.05.68 and race 1 ended up 3rd with a 1.05.67!

now the interesting part. I came 3rd but did the 7th fastest lap. So in this meet I started 7th based on lap time. weird. Anyhoo, race 2 came 5th and thats when the rain started to hit.

last race was a handicap race. So if you were slow, you had a better starting place on the track. We all started at same time but everyone was at different starting points. Ended up catching and overtaking quite a number of cars in the rain. Turns out I came 1st! won the last race!

vids to come.

one thing about FoSC which I think is fantastic is the lunch time partners parade.
As my Dad was out there watching and supporting me, I couldnt think of anything better for him than to throw him the keys. He ABSOLUTELY loved it! might see him and his NA6 out at the track soon now, think I got him hooked!!!

on the dummy grid for last race

Well no one wanted to buy my car so I fixed it, put a set of cams in and got a new ECU.
made just under 94rwkw
Image

attended round 4 MRA.
MX5 and TT were grouped together on the sunday, big field of 38 cars for qualifying and race 1

found some space but only managed a 1.13.3
race 1 started down the back. made a coupole spots then red flag and restart. due to the confusion in pit lane I lost 3 spots on the grid. oh well.
got held up by some 380's and HQs

Image
race 2 I had an HQ with a 6.3L V8 in it hold me up. he kept cutting me off and would just come across the track. he went wide at fish hook, I go under brakes, up to his B pillar and he just compelete turns into me.
we hit.
then next lap similar again however at exit of fish hook he keeps coming across and across and I gave way before the kink going off the track.
end of race I was frustrated. I kept my cool so lodged a complaint with race control. showed them the in car footage and he got a warning for unsportsmanlike racing

Image
Image

race 3 was our Mx5 only race.

managed 4 laps in the 11.s and a PB of 1.11.81

Of course not!

I'm a pretty easy going bloke (Although mazmad may say differently!!) and if he came up and apologised I would have shaken his hand and moved on however even race control said to him to have a chat to me and suggested an apology (they even showed him the footage) but to no avail.

I'll put it down to small man syndrome!

Lol. !

But yeah least he could have done.

Hey nice work on the panel, I should pull my finger out and do the same. I have decided...finally...with you and Andy both getting a few more horses to pull the trigger and get cams etc done too so I can join the 90+ club ;)

Yeah that's the thing. Even in 2f there is a lot of latitude and there are a bunch of us that haven't maximised what we can do. Under the time based approach it doesn't matter.

That is absolutely what I will do, for sure. Andy's was just the ecu, they got an upgrade and retune. I have got essentially the same setup but passed on the upgrade seeing as I will be making some changes soon anyway, no point tuning it twice.
