I dropped the Black Rat off to the tuner this morning, with half a tank of 98 and a can of e85. He started today expects the run in and tune to be completed tomorrow.

I have not heard anything yet, which means I didn't get a call to tell me that it broke!

The Black Ray is tuned!

Got a call from the tuner between runs at the Gold Rush Hill Sprint.

Nothing leaked, no bad noises and he said the run-in filter cut open was one of the cleanest he’s seen.

Yes, a couple more runs to go hopefully. Lots of fun but very intimidating bit of road.

Young guy in his Dad’s NA is 8 seconds ahead of me, with quite a bit less HP.

That's OK for him, we all know that the youngsters are immortal. Just bring the car, and yourself, home in one piece.

I got a call from the tuner between runs on the first day of the Gold Rush Hill Sprint. He asked me how much power I wanted the car to make, as he felt it had reached its 'happy place'. He was also concerned that the car would become too difficult to drive with much more. He then told me what it was making and I told him that was enough: 'stop there!'.

For comparison (because I have not been able to drive it yet).

The White Mouse makes it's peak horse power of 256 HP at 6500rpm. The Black Rat makes ~250hp at 4200RPM.
At 5000rpm the White Mouse is making 200hp, while the Black Rat is producing 400hp.
At 6500rpm the White mouse is making 256hp. while the Black Rat is delivering 462hp/344kw on 22lbs.

TBR is also tuned for 98 at 330hp at 18lbs.

Now I need to press on with finishing everything else that needs to be done to ready it for a shake down!

Definitely the undies!

The open diff and stock suspension will have to go. The guy who test drove it for the tuner (who is too short to reach the pedals with my seat settings) said that it squats a huge amount under throttle (and he said it is probably the fastest car he has ever dríven on the street).

That sounds awesome and scary. You'd better fine tune that right foot! Maybe do the first few events on 98, or a low boost E85?

Oh, ask the tuner if he'll look at a MegaSquirt for me!

That’s what the tuner said. “Maybe run it on 98 for a while until you get used to it”.

He might do it? Have you talked to Cleveland Exhaust/the guy who films Nugget Garage on YouTube? I read somewhere that he does MS.
