Good luck Magpie!

So we know when you're on a flying lap, what are your previous times?

Yeah, if you have the power, the obvious choice would be something like a 17x10 6UL with the 255/40/17 if you were to go down that path, but it's a fair increase in overall diameter and unsprung weight on each corner. Makes sense if you're running 400hp plus like Kenny O's car, but If you're planning to stay NA, and trying to get to minimum weight, then I'm not sure if it'll be worth it, unless there's another reason like bigger brakes or something?

He looked smooth and confident today in the wet. If it dries up he will hit it.

Not in the wet :( It was the last session of the day and the track was cool but still a little slippery. Especially T3 and up the hill on the SMSP South (water still across the track) as well as after going under the bridge.

There are still some people who do not believe the car is naturally aspirated and is on 205/50/15 tyres.

If you looked happier, you might have some 'splainin' to do when you got home!

WTAC 2018 is over, went faster than 2017 but no 1:50 or 1:51.

Decision over the next few months for 2019, still sticking with naturally aspirated.
  1. NA6 at 804kg running my engine/drivetrain
  2. VL running a V8 min weight 1,070, lots available and would allow any V8 produced by Holden to be fitted.
  3. E30/E36 allows any BMW 6 cylinder engine to be used, again many choices. Min weight 1,248kg
  4. Daihatsu Charade min weight would be 703kg but boosted - more of a shits and giggles thing than a serious choice...

5. Enter mx5/86 challange at qr 3 and 4th of November. You can run the car as is, give more exposure to your sponsors, it's close to home, lots of fun and the most track time you'll have over 2 days.
Cheers,
plohl

Don't throw away the work that's gone into this chassis! There's time left in the car that the driver hasn't tapped yet. Moving to a different platform will just mask that.

What's the goal of your racing? To win? To improve your skill? No wrong answer here, but it might help direct you to the best path.

If you want to WIN, you'll need a car that is competitive with the pointy end of your chosen class, in which case maybe changing platform is the best option.

If you want to be the best driver you can be, then getting more time on more tracks in more situations in the same car with minimal changes is the way to go.

If you want a little of both, then maybe change the playing field and go with plohl and do the Challenge and not WTAC?

Whatever’s direction you go I’ve enjoyed your approach to the journey. I’m going to have a crack at a couple of the Challenge events next year as well as the Sprints and Hillclimbs.
