Dropped the car off at Carco today for a service. Nothing exciting to report back.

Contemplating going for a run through the Snowy's this weekend as I have a birthday to go to in Tallangatta, but I'm not sure if I could be bothered driving or just tag along with my parents.

So we have a choice of:

1) A twisty autumn drive in an MX-5 through the Snowies, or

2) A boring backseat ride with mum and dad.

And you're undecided. Are you nuts?

It does sound a little silly when you put it like that hey. No, it was more a decision of whether or not to take the short route straight down the Hume (at which point I may as well go with the parents) or the more interesting route through the mountains. Unfortunately I have to be in Canberra on Saturday evening and early Monday morning and the birthday is a lunch on Sunday, so there isn't a whole lot of time in the middle for driving. I'm sure I'll figure it out once Saturday comes around.

I'll post another thread while I'm at it, but any suggestions for routes through the mountains? Google is suggesting either Cooma > Kiandra > Corryong or Cooma > Jindabyne > Thredbo > Corryong.

Understood. It's a pretty decent drive time-wise through the Snowies, so you'll need to leave early on Sunday morning. It's definitely worth it though! Weather permitting. It can be a slow and scary drive in the wet.

Ok, so I'm taking the 'Canberra > Cooma > Jindabyne > Thredbo > Corryong > Tallangatta' route leaving bright and early in the morning. There's a forecast for rain but fudge it, I'm going anyway.

Didn't end up going in my car or via that route :(

Got up in the morning bright and early to head out. Had the camera with an empty memory card and a full battery, an adequate supply of snakes and drinks, and a brand new CD.

Parents then ring me as I'm about to leave. Their car wouldn't start. They had scammed a lift with my uncle who was heading up through Canberra too, but asked if I could I give my brother a lift. My girlfriend, brother and I obviously weren't going to fit in my car so we had to take hers. Then by the time we'd got to my parents place, got my brother and stuffed about with their car for half an hour (coupled with the fact that we weren't in my car any more) I decided to take the boring route. I really wasn't happy about it for the first hour or so, but what can you do.

Wakefield on Monday will make it all better I hope.

Bugger. So your brother wouldn't fit in the boot then? At least you've now got the itinerary planned for next time.

See you bright and early next Monday at Wakefield! :D

Bought a set of lower seat mounts for my seat from Rupewrecht last week and installed them today. With the taller seats my head would hit on the roof while wearing a helmet. Not a problem any more!

No pics sorry Sliq. The Mazdaspeed seats are mounted to their own rails that then have two bolts at each corner. I'd imagine it's so that you can swap different mounts to suit different cars.

Went to Wakefield today. Twas good to see again/meet a few people in real life.
Didn't break anything on the car and got my time down to a 1:20.something

Very tired now so that's all your getting. May post more details of the day later.

Coming home from uni the other day I split a heater hose. Full set of 6 kevlar hoses now on the way.
