Hahah yep that was me! Would have been just after Jace rolled the front guards and I was on my way home. Was the PERFECT afternoon for topdown driving.

Update!!!!!!!! So I repainted my pillars gloss black. Needs more work but so far it's a pretty good colour match with the hard top. Will need some touch up paint for the hard top though...

Re: Josh's Na6
About time I made another update.
So a few things have changed recently, a minor update but enough to share. I don't have pics of everything but I'll show what I can.
Right, so for a long ass time I've wanted a roll bar. I started a new job a few months ago now and decided it was time to start lashing out on my car.
So basically, I'd been eyeing off the Hard Dog M2 and Black Bird Fab bars for a long time. I wasn't a huge fan of the Brown Davis as I wasn't a huge fan of the parcel shelf mounting point, though I did feel it's physical design was quite well tested and structurally sound. After more research I found a note on the harddog site saying the bars are alloy... So impulsively I bought a Brown Davis the next night. Well it was at that point I found out that the Hard dogs are actually made from the same steel the Australian cams approved rules state and it WOULD have been a better choice. But alas, I made my purchase and when it arrived I mounted it.

I was happy with how it looked when it arrived (aside from the poorly put on bubble ridden cheap Brown Davis Stickers) and had Jace come over with some drill bits to help me put it on. It was at this point I realised how right I was about the BD bars. The rear shelf mounting really does seem questionable at best.
It's VERY thin and the drillbit slices right through it which makes me wonder how effective this would be in an accident.
But that aside, I figure I'll keep this in as a stop gap and when I can be bothered, I'll import a Hard Dog bar from the states. Turns out the Hard Dog bars are actually around the same price as our local bars shipped!! That's right, including international shipping and freight
.
Then I figured it was time for some bling. I don't have any photo's of these yet because my phone camera doesn't have a flash so interior photo's come out blurry and dark; But I've aquired a set of Cocomats and a new ashtray. My interior is finally complete again!!! It feels so good to ditch the supercheap commodore mats I had to manually cut to size. The quality of the Cocomats astounded me though. They are so thick and robust, you'd almost think them indestructible.
Since they are able to be fully custom ordered, I went for 'black with grey dots'. It's REALLY done wonders for the interior and it feels good to brighten up the cabin a little bit. Oh and BIG thankyou to Pam and Nik for scoring me a new/old ashtray! I'll be taking it apart this week and gluing the cracks back together. Should be good as new.
I've also decided the outside of the car is a little bland so I bought myself a set of the same fd style skirts EVERYONE seems to be buying now. yes, I'm drone.

Kudos to Jace's handy work with the camera
and a big thanks to John Pham for teeing me up with awesome quality products http://omgpham.com/
I am in no way affiliated with John's business and solely cast my opinion as a happy consumer. As such, I highly recommend visiting his store via his blog for some good parts at great prices.
He even threw in a fantastic anodized black billet aluminium gear knob too! Feels good but the throw is a lot shorter than my skunk2 so I've ordered a shift extender which should arrive on Monday.
In other news, I've made a few mystery packages that will be rocking up in a few weeks! The excitement is killing me and it's going to make this one PAINFUL wait!!!!! Car should be virtually where I want it when they arrive

Re: Josh's Na6
So I'm sitting here at 5:50pm chatting on facebook to friends about all sorts of stuff. The subject flicked to cars and I realised that it's been a while since I've updated my build thread. Truth is I've been neglecting cartalk and spending more and more time lurking club roadster.
I've made a build on that site and I've been updating it but I guess I've been put off adding things on here because I simply couldn't be bothered and didn't want to just cut and paste.
A lot of big things have happened for me lately and I've made some relatively big decisions. I hit a fork in the road with my car a few months ago where it dawned on me I had two directions I could go. See, the problem is that my motor is getting a little long in the tooth and my neglect hasn't helped. I've made excuse to myself over and over why I've been avoiding fixing things but never bothered.
(I'm starting to get sidetracked now)
Back to the choices. I could return the car back to stock and sell it off for a low km na8 or better condition slightly modded na6; or I could keep my car and make it the car I've always wanted. Well the time came and I made my choice.
I kept the car.
This meant a few things for me. Sure I could just continue in the aimless direction I've been heading for a long time or I could get proactive and start working on my dream car
So off I went....

I wanted decent wheels for ages so I bit the bullet and threw away some of my hard earned on a set of ridiculous wheels. I know this isn't what a lot of the mx5 crew like and probably completly against the whole jinba ittai thing but you know what? They make me happy
My initial fitment

I know I know, 195's would have been a better fit and I could have done some good rolling, pulling and adding more low and neg camber....
But this was more my style

Now there was a lot of drama that happened after this and I'm not going to be adding it to the build thread but long story short, the flares were labeled wrong and as a result... drama ensued.
But that isn't what this thread is about now. This is a new lease on life for my car! And off we went!!!!!!

Before I go on any further, I need to say a big thank you to Jace and Noddi for helping me out! Thanks so much guys
So over that weekend we only had time to do the front an I'd have to wait a week for the rest to be done (which become 2..3..4 weeks). To pass the time I bought myself a little present

Skipping ahead a few weeks, My mate Chris (Noddi on the forum) came down to help me tackle the rear end. Thanks so much mate! This is the point we discovered the flares were mislabeled...

And as it sits today

At the moment I'm tossing up if I should cut the rear flares and also my factory mud guards and make a single flare/guard out of them along the lines of this

So I still have a few more bits and pieces coming but it's heading in the direction I've always wanted. I've been dying for this day and it's finally here

The next step body wise is to have the flares repainted to match the body, order an oem rear lip. I've got a set of runabout mirrors coming very soon so they will be the final touch!
Over the next couple of months I aim to achieve a few more things. Now I've got the thing looking the way I want, it's time to get it driving like I want
My current list is:
- pickup some shafts for my newly acquired nb diff
-Torsen lsd centre
-RDA replacement rotors
-Greenstuff pads
-braided lines
-either nb6 motor or bp swap (or low km b6)
- mspnp2 ecu
- whiteline sways and racing beat links
- front and rear lca braces
- frame rails and butterfly
- exedy hd clutch
- bucket (prob end up being sparco sprint v but not sure at the moment)
- carpet console
- nardi
- sell bd for blackbird
- roadster sill plates
Prob missed a bunch of stuff but meh. Oh and looking at respraying car back to solid red again (ditching the black top half). I was looking at going turbo for a long time and have a few setups in mind but I've actually found something else which is PERFECT for what I'm after. More details when It actually happens lol.
So yeah it's a big update I know but it's about time I actually put it on here. More pics coming.

Re: Josh's Na6
Yeah it was about time, I've been neglecting my car way too much over the past year. This years new resolution (a little late I know) is to re kindle the love I had for my car again.
It's weird, I've been reminiscing the first day I got my car. Well, the day I drove it home I should say. Everything was so bizarre and so new. Also I should prob say I've lost my licence and that's played a big part in all of this. I needed a project while I'm off the road.
I get it back on the 1st of August. It sort of sucks but you know what? I'm actually enjoying it. I'm embracing the challenge of ticking all the boxes on my to do list and above all it's rather exciting
One things I'm really looking forward to is driving again. Obviously we all know this, but not for the reason you think. With a long time not being behind the wheel, I'm looking forward to the car feeling weird and new. I'll be able to appreciate the handling again and start to appreciate it more. In other words, it will feel like the first day I drove it home
Will be looking to do some serious track time when I get it on the road again though. Right now my motor is a little worse for wear and my brakes REALLY have to be replaced before I even THINK about the word 'track'.
I have to say though, I've taken my car out around the court (sad I know) and omg those ku36's grip like crazy! They're going to be fun to thrash. In other news I'm looking into buying a daily.

I must say, when I had a forced period of walking the best drives were the last one, and the first when I got back.
