After prepping the mx5 this morning for the track day tomorrow, I went out for a spin and took some better pics of the roll bar and sparco and shows how it currently looks. :D

Had another day out at QR yesterday, this time with the MX5 club. Had a fantastic day, got a few PB's throughout the day, sprint circuit is down to a 1:07.1 so close to the 1:06 that I want. Was good fun getting a run on the back straight, flat out in 4th gear, 7000 rpm at 165 km/h :D

Turns out I cant even go to the track these days without buying car parts  I bought a shifter extender. Really transforms the feel of the 6 speed GB much easier and smoother shifting gears now, and for a tall person like myself the higher position feels more natural when going to select another gear.

Yea its the one from Mania, not knocking them or their products but for the price yea best to just make your own. Only thing you get is the piece of metal then the other bracket comes with the extinguisher.

Like the roll bar and sparco. What Model sparco is that? Does it hit your door skin?
How much was it? I really like the look of it.
Well done on the car, all the best NB's are that colour :)

Thanks mate, I love it alot.

Its the sparco sprint v, they fit perfectly in the mx5, it doesnt hit on the door card, I think if you go right back as far as it will go I think the shoulder part touches slightly near where the seatbelt comes out but thats all. I got mine second hand for $150 with the seatbelt buckle and already on the runners, I think the seats retail for about $400 new depends where you go.

Cheers for that. Is it comfy? I tend to go for long drives. So I still need something comfy to sit in. My other question.. how is the driving position? Does it sit uou too close to steering wheel?

Its reasonably comfortable. It doesnt have as much padding in the actual seat as the factory seat but I daily drive mine and take it on long drives and I find it comfortable enough, I was in it 3 hours straight last weekend coming back from the Sunny coast by the time I got home I was a little sore but that was after driving up there that morning etc. Its a good seat.

Seating position is good, sits you alot lower obviously which is why I got it, get more headroom but it doesnt sit you too close to the wheel. Depends how tall you are, because you sit lower in the seat and you have the upward lip at the front I could actually sit closer to the wheel because your legs "become shorter" if that makes sense. If you do have long legs like I do the steering wheel can tend to be in the way of your knees/legs especially when going for the brake and clutch pedal. Cant do anything about that though as the steering wheel isnt height adjustable unfortunately, only way to get around it is to run a aftermarket wheel if you want to risk that.
