Yes, the sump is a common upgrade for oil hungry Frankenstein K engines, and with fitment issues due to height it made sense to go this way.

BTW ill make it clear that BYP have taken up the job not me however I may be involved in getting a production swap available down the track.

Ok. Yeah, it does make sense especially being a track car.

So it's got a k20 head? It does have everything... Will be interesting to see how it compares to their s2000.
Cheers,

the blue one is the wreck.

Postby oztrackdays » Mon May 19, 2014 10:58 pm

The Blue one is the cheapy write off courtesy of BoyRacer, turned out to be super flocked, diff, gearbox, even the ABS
was busted as, anyway the dummy fit was comfortable enough in the blue one so I bought the white one which is the keeper.

that would be me, Last Name KEOGH, first Name NATHAN

Very ordinary blog use it more to keep track of various ideas, the K powered Mazda,
is my subsidised gift to MX5 fans, will cost you about $10 grand less than it has cost
me as the pioneer it's never cheap to be first.

Will miss the MX5 club outing by a week but will no doubt get out to one later in the year.

Yeah, I thank you for your efforts! I was seriously considering doing this swap, but decided I needed to learn to drive faster before I needed more power... and it was going to be expensive.

Were any of the k-miata parts used? I noticed on the blog that most of it seems to be bespoke.

plohl

What kind of price are you aiming for for the kit?

Pricing, it's not a budget build option.

Postby oztrackdays » Tue May 20, 2014 8:39 pm

Think $20,000 at a minimum and depending on the specifications can go higher.

My own build has gone over $30,000 and not finished but that includes a Dry Sump
and some things I wanted more than needed. Also I have been steamrolling
obstacles rather than being patient.

There are a number of brand new parts required so you are getting new high spec parts as well.

Wait until it's all finished and then will backtrack all the fabrication and investigate more cost effective options.
