I just got off the phone from both the repairer and the Insurance company..... Reapairs have been approved and they're ordering parts! :)

Should be around 3 weeks, maybe longer depending on parts availability, but my baby's coming home!! YEAH

It's such as relief finally knowing she's going to be fixed and not written off, good SE's are getting hard to come by these days.....

While in the shop I'm also getting them to fix the small dings in the front and back bumpers (shown at the start of this thread) plus there will be 4 new tyres (although I have to pay for one of them myself) so it'll actually come back looking better than it was before the whoopsie.

So now, more waiting......... :|

Consider this; there are so many buy 3 tyres, get the 4th free, you'd think there would be no cost to you. I think Yokohoma and Bridgestones are doing the promo all month.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

Or ask for a discount if the insurance coy say 'no' (tell them about the 4th tyre free deals).

Are you staying with 17s? 4 new tyres could make the step down to 16 or 15 cheaper if you were planning to anyway, means you won't have to fork out later on.

+1
Great opportunity to upgrade from 17" rims and will work out cheaper for the insurer too (New Racing Harts will be more expensive than 6ULs - works well for everyone)

Sorry to disappoint but the Racing Harts are getting fully remanufactured (effectively new) which is a real shame for just about everyone but me as I really like the OEM rims.
I will also end up with 4 brand new, top spec, tyres so they'll be staying on for a while too......

As I said a long way back in this thread, I'm going to do everything else first, including suspension, and only then if I'm still not happy will the wheels be replaced......

Thats ok :) I'm certainly not one for preaching 15" wheels! Just would have been smart to do it now if ever.
Make sure you get good tyres!

Stick to your guns, Nev! While I appreciate other wheels too, and can't argue with Lokiel's points about performance, there is something to be said about how the OEMs look on the car. Plus everyone has 6ULs ;)

I personally love the Racing Hart's. Glad to hear that your going to get them repaired. As others have said there's no disputing the benefits of 15's for track/spirited driving, but the 17's fill the arches perfectly. However that's my opinion and fortunately I have the RH's for daily driving and a set of 15's for the track. Best of both worlds.

Thanks everyone, I'll do everything I can to keep the Racing Harts as I really like them, been searching for ages and just can't find anything I like more in 16" or 15" out there........
Don't plan for this car to become a track beast so the need for smaller rims isn't a primary concern.

At ~$250 a piece I'd certainly hope they're good tyres! :?

That's brilliant news Nev!!

I was dreading the possibility of writeoff on your behalf, can't wait to see the post when you get the car back!

Was just reading back through this thread again and a question came to mind regarding the wiring of the oil pressure warning light in the instrument panel. Would that same wiring for a light still work if the oil pressure gauge was still wired in and functional, or would the gauge create some sort of interference to the light? Appears too easy a fix for a warning light without interfering with the gauges if it does work! Asking the question as it's currently too wet and cold to go outside and just simply remove the panel and try it ...
