Alex's 2000 NB8A (lots of pics)

Postby Alex » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:01 pm

I ended up spending my savings on a new camera rather than waiting till I had enough for an SE (although boyracers would have been very tempting 2 weeks ago :( )

Anyway it was about time the 5 got taken for a proper drive and it would be a nice chance to play with the new camera, so after finishing uni early on Tuesday I headed out, turned out to be a nice drive and by chance another forumite was out enjoying the same road 8)

Due to a combination of work, uni and a general lack of free time the car hasn't moved in over 3 weeks now, but hopefully I'll get a chance to take it out next week sometime after I've submitted my thesis, it needs a wash and some new tyres but that can come later.
Anyway the reason for this post is while taking a break I went through some old photo's and found a nice edit which really made me remember the passion I had for the car and hopefully I can get back into it soon.

I'm just looking at the PP2's now, seem like a nice enough street tyre.

And thanks sasso, after exams we should do a shoot

Great photo
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Well not much has been happening lately with the car, yesterday I took off the hardtop and went for a drive the shifting didn't feel as smooth as I remember so today I took a look and found this.
Image

I was a bit surprised as I'm only on 65,000km the upper boot is still fine which is some good news, unfortunately mania has sold out of lower boots until tomorrow.

Also earlier I mentioned I was saving for an SE but the daily was getting a bit too old to hang onto so it was time for a replacement and I've always wanted a new car so after looking around for a bit I ended up with this

Yes it does, also on Tuesday I changed the lower boot for a new one from mania biggest difference is the change in the downshift smoothness was quite an easy job really just took a bit of patience to remove the upper boot without breaking it (twice).
I ended up putting the shifter back the wrong way round and only noticed when I had the console back together and the boot looked a bit more stretched than normal but it was a quick fix.

Today was my first free weekend in over 5 years (quit the weekend job) and the weather was perfect for a drive and a few photos.

No mods (as usual) but at least the car is still cleanish.

Still looks amazingly clean. I wish I could say the same for mine. I've got stone chips galore on my front bar now.

Next time you get your wheels balanced, ask them to use the sticky wheel weights rather than the ones that clip on the rim. It cleans up the look of the wheels so much more without them.
