Re: Pricing, it's not a budget build option.

My own build has gone over $30,000 and not finished but that includes a Dry Sump
and some things I wanted more than needed. Also I have been steamrolling
obstacles rather than being patient.

There are a number of brand new parts required so you are getting new high spec parts as well.

Wait until it's all finished and then will backtrack all the fabrication and investigate more cost effective options.

without seeming ungrateful, rude and stupid, why this route over the american kit?

I am sceptical of their work, let's just say they don't have the best track record for workmanship.

LHD Laziness ...

Postby oztrackdays » Tue May 20, 2014 9:50 pm

The Yanks are notorious for not considering Right Hand Drive Tolerances, it won't mate up to a RHD chassis full stop.

The US K Miata kit gives a ballpark of $10k US so $11k plus shipping in AUD and it's not track proven yet
and certainly not RHD ready so it's always a bit misleading also nobody has actually built there one yet
to prove that ballpark is realistic.

A friend of Mine bought the "RHD" V8 FC RX7 swap kit and 6 months later he had remade the whole thing
himself from scratch it just was useless.

I think my car will be a lonely example for some time, I know what I am getting and am
happy with the dollars involved others will think whatever they like about the price.

End result should be more power than most of the Street Registered NB's and about 50 kg less weight :)

This car is getting built to go on a boat to the Nurburgring and be seriously abused so I don't
want the Turbo route or the highly strung Mazda route I have one of those and it's not suited
to the challenge.

Plenty of horror stories that have been deleted off the ozhonda forums, so I'm dubious about the quality of their workmanship as well. That said, I'd love to see someone pull off a kswap MX5 in Aus so kudos to Nathan!

I don't like getting involved with the whole Horror Stories thing, BYP have done a stellar job
will be available for passenger runs on Circuit Club track days

If Dann can agree he is or isn't actually building one of these lets get this thread closed and
start the moaning or potential helping over here
