Sorry guys Jeo has spoken, it's gonna stay black

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: Okibi's SE
So that's both the intercooler and muffler you've painted black, what's the reason?
Are you just going for a black theme for the whole car or trying to attract less unwanted attention?
Or is it a little of both?

Nice exhaust!
I don't think its painted, merely just a mild steel muffler and piping that has some surface rust

Re: Okibi's SE
I spray all my MX-5 mufflers black, this is the first one I did before it was on the car.
I don't like the look of the muffler hanging down but that's less of an issue with an SE and their rear skirt.
This was my previous muffler.

Re: Okibi's SE
Time for an update, finally pulling my finger out an installing my Adaptronic intake and injectors.

Also some new brake pads, think brake fluid needs a good flush too.

Clamps with the intake seemed a bit big, so got some more suitable ones.

Intake in, getting the no maf pipe from BEGI

Top of intake comes off to install the injectors

ID725 vs stcok, the new injectors look longer but they fit right in.

Had Tristan at WTF autos modify the FM pipe

Mac valve mounted (sorry Simon it's not wired up yet
)

Once properly tuned you gonna have a blast with it..
Loving the black exhaust, it's stealthy..

Re: Okibi's SE
So I was installing a boost gauge yesterday. They have these tiny little brass olives/ferrule that go around the hose.

So in my mind i'm telling myself .. "don't drop it, don't drop it, dont ... doh!" it bounced out of the hand and down into the engine bay.
These things are tiny and I spent WAYYYYYY longer than I should have looking for it.
So I figured it might be lodged in the shielding under the car and I had some oil for the gearbox to go in so why not take them off. So I took them off and poked around some more, decided to degrease everything as I wiped it with a rag looking for that fuggin ferrule. At this point it was past 1am so I gave up.

Drained the gearbox oil. Done this quite a few times on the 5 speed NA and NB but never on a 6 speed. It shouldn't have been a drama at all except for 2 things. 1) So many people have horror stories about removing the wrong bolt from a 6 speed transmission, I know the bolt and filler are on the exhaust side but for some reason I was still paranoid. 2) The bolt and filler are on the exhaust side. I have a nice shiny 3" exhaust right in front of the filler bolt. Wasn't too hard to get the bolt out, but getting it back in place and finger right was a bit of a mission. We've already established i'm an unco and I have fat fingers that can't hold a fuggin ferrule. I worked out it was easier to side in under the drivers side and get the filler bolt started, once it was in it's easy enough to tighten with a spanner.

Been happy with MT90 before so i'm using it again

While the under body plate was off I gave it a quick spray with some black crinkle paint, because black car.

... and no I didn't find the fuggin ferrule, had to buy a kit for $14 with of them and some new hose.
