EVLGURL's NA8 Eunos

Postby EVLGURL » Thu May 02, 2013 12:07 pm

Hi,
This is my newest venture with cars.
I honestly don't know much about the MX5, but have always wanted one.
I've found this site pretty helpful so far & hope I can find some bits around here to smarten her up.

1993 Eunos MX5 roadster 1.8ltr
It is yellow plate import

Apart from a exhaust, nothing much else is done to it.

It needs a LOT of love.
The front nose has lost all the clear coat & the rest of the paint needs some attention.
The soft top requires replacing, the RH mirror is falling off along with multiple other faults.

But I've got a shed & time to give her what she needs.

Good chance you've got factory abs on that car. It's a computer bigger the the ems in the foot well beside the ems.

Not many plans for now.
Just want to tidy it up a little & get her out on the track.
Fingers crossed I will get her out in the next couple of months as I'm interested to know how it is compared to the EVO. I've never done any track work in a RWD, so sort of excited. :)

Such a nice base to work on, it should be fun restoring this thing. Keen for some updates.

Welcome Shannon, hope you don't find the MX-5 too slow compared to your evo(s).

Looking forward to seeing you compete in the club motorsport.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I think it is a great base to work on & I am actually really excited about building this car.

First track day is already booked in for the 19th with the MX5 club of WA. :) I can't wait to compare it to the EVO on the track. RWD is not something I am used to & all my previous driver training/competing has been in my multiple collection of EVO's.

Took this little button out over the weekend to meet the MX5 club here at the Treasure hunt cruise on Sunday.
I must say I had an absolute blast & everyone was so lovely. I even had some people help us out when we couldn't find some of the items.
Here's a picture I got from the day.

I fixed up the drivers mirror as it was held together with sticky tape. Just needed pulling apart & securing as it had lost all the screws holding it together somehow. Just glad it was an easy fix.
Also took her out on a Imports cruise with a bunch of mates. She needs a good clean & polish, just didn't have time over the weekend. Hopefully I get some time this weekend to give her that much needed love.

Fitted new headlights today as the old ones were sealed beams & one had blown.

Also managed to get a Juran front strut bar for cheap, so fitted that as well.

Got the little car out on the track this weekend at the Kwinana Motorplex with the MX5 club of WA.

It was an awesome event in which I got to really learn how the car performed & reacted around the track.
My times improved with every run & I ended up improving by nearly 20seconds over the morning.
I started with a 1,44.--- & ended with a 1,27.---
The handling took a while for me to get used to & I was super nervous with it been RWD. But after a few kicks out of the rear I learnt I could hold on to the car well & correct it back. It behaved so differently from my EVO.

Will hopefully have some action shots by the end of the week. :)
