92 NA6

So I finally got one.

Picked up my 92 NA6 from a member of this forum who had picked it up from another member on this forum not long ago.

Details:

no power steering
yellow speed coilovers
braided brake and clutch lines
drilled and slotted rotors
flying miata oversize cold air intake
xforce extractors and full exhaust
momo aftermarket steering wheel

Also came with Chassis rail frames.

That's the good.

The bad was:
Many many scratches and chips/nicks in the paint.
Bonnet has many many swirls. And looks like it was tried to be fixed by polishing with that coloured polish and some very rough scouring pads.
The drivers seat had sheepskin cover and the backing (suede) has left marks on the seat I have not been able to remove yet.

But they are all mainly easy fixes.

So the seller was nice enough to have the rear bar and garnish and front right guard resprayed as part of the deal and even drive it to my house for me.

I then spent the 3 week nights leading up to the weekend giving the inside a clean/tidy up.

Add 6 hours over the weekend..

Here is what my white pad looked like after one go over the bonnet.

And while I was getting the wheels on....
Passenger side guard had some presents for me.

Drivers side was clean as that guard had just been off to get painted.

Anyway..

To do list:

1.) Roll guards - the new wheels rub on medium/hard turns or any turns with bumps.
2.) Remove loop top rollbar and install AGI roll bar
3.) Install chassis rail frames
4.) adjust timing if it already hasn't been done
5.) Paint/wrap the front windscreen surround black
6.) Drive every twisty road I can find.

Agreed.

Once it can turn without rubbing there will be many driving done.

Looking very good in the new wheels I like alot !
Were you able to get rid of most of the swirls when you cleaned the car?

Yeah the bonnet is a fair bit better, but in certain light you'll still see swirls.
I do have a harder polishing pad and a more corse polish to try but after so many hours with the buffer I was getting over it.. lol.

Might give it a go in 6 months time when it's due again.

Got the guards rolled today.
$150 for the front 2 guards.
Guy came up from gold coast so that fee includes travel cost

Managed to get up there earlier....

After 18 years of driving and 18 cars... I think this is a keeper.

So enjoyable.
No real power but the drive is unlike any of my other cars.

AGI rollover bar installed.
NB seats installed
Chassis rail frames installed

Turns out the NB drivers seat had already had a foamectomy which is a bonus cause now I can see the speedo/tacho etc.

Sunday I'm gonna try and do the nebo/glorious/mee loop.

Hi TTT, the car's certainly coming together for you.

Do you know if AGI have completed the NCOP "Performance Requirements Design Report(s)" for their MX-5 ROPS so that they can be complied?

I couldn't tell you Danny.

I bought it used from a member on this forum.
It does have a bunch of numbers stamped in to the footing.. not sure if that helps.

I know how you feel there I feel the exact same way with mine. They are just absolutely fantastic cars and so enjoyable to drive. Mine is definitely a keeper too.

Hi.
Try Johnsons baby powder with your buff you may be surprised at the results. We used to use this to get rid of swirls and as a final buff on very good refinishes. If you hand polish your car and get a swirl or rub mark you can use it by hand. To get rid of it wash the panel.
