Fran's NA8

Just got my 1997 Silver NA8 two weeks ago. Picked her up from Colo Vale and had a fun drive back up to Sydney.

When I bought her, she came with:
-Vented driver's side pop-up light
-Different extractors
-Twin exhausts
-Leather Momo steering wheel
-17"x6.5" Advanti wheels
-Re-upholstered leather seats with red fabric
-NB soft top with a heated glass window
-'Fully hectic' body kit with fog lights

Last weekend did an oil and spark plug change on the car and a brake flush since the brakes were a bit spongy after buying the car initially.

Then I Booked a "tune" with Transformance Mechanical Engineering up in Springwood for the 29th of March.

When we did the tune, we had a look at the timing and did a few runs to find what the best setting was for the NA8 Engine. Apparently, the previous owner had set it to 14 degrees, which made roughly 74 rkw. We started backing off the timing and found that the car performed best at the factory specified 10 degrees, with a peak figure of 77 rkw. This is an overall gain of 3 kw, but some places on the rev range had an increase of up to 5.

Unfortunately, while the car was on the dyno we found out that it had bad valve stem seals. It isn't a huge problem at the moment, but it's something to look at in future.

The timing bump has often been argued to add some more torque down low but potentially suffer at the top.

What fuel were you running on the day?
