OK. As per Wayne's Suggestion. Here we go.

DODGY DAY GCDDl IS GO!
Sat 28th April at 10am

The new house has a VERY big double garage. Malibu looks like a matchbox car in there, and there is room for another 12-15 cars in the driveway (which is a big U with 2 exits)! 5 mins from the freeway, close to the normal GC meeting point. We also have a pool if it's hot, BBQ and a nice acre of lawn to rest on when the \"dodginess\" gets too much

Arrangements can be made for major jobs that may need earlier access or overnight accom, (that means you Mikey and Boags).
PM me for the address and contact numbers.

I have some tools, sockets, and a basic trolly jack. I have exposed rafters that a block and tackle can be hung from.

We will need:
JACK STANDS
RAMPS
PERHAPS A CREEPER (board on wheels to get under cars).
PORTABLE LIGHTS FOR UNDER BONNET, CAR.
ANY ADDITIONAL TOOLS FOR SPECIFIC JOBS.

Confirmed attendees are:

I will come for the saturday for sure. I can bring a small trolley jack, some stands and quite a few spanners socket sets etc as long as they come back. I work sunday but if needed I can leave a few bits and pieces if someone can bring them back to me in ashgrove after.

Oh yea I will be wanting to do my rear wheel bearings and probably a couple other little jobs like the fuel filter.

If I can somehow get my engine over there with a crane, then I can come along and have a metric shitload of work to do. Basically, 'ol Forgey's going to go in soon as it's nearly ready.

Can I be put down as \"maybe an overnighter\" ? I still have to check with scheduling and stuff.

In a nutshell, if I were to do it there, I'd be:
  • Removing the current engine + gearbox together
  • Cleaning and stripping down the Familia engine
  • Putting parts on the new engine
  • Giving the engine bay a thorough cleanout
  • Installing the new engine (with gearbox attached)
  • Grinning stupidly

Before that I need to sort:
  • Braided oil return line
  • Torsen LSD centre install
  • Welding of IC pipework BOV fitting
  • Welding of IC pipework PCV fitting

A coolant reroute was on the list, but the mate whom was able to fabricate stuff with CNC access no longer has it. It might be a bit much to do all at once.

What I can bring:
  • Jackstands (I'll be using them)
  • Sit-down creeper thing (using part time)
  • Creeper (I'll be using this too)
  • Toolbox with lots of tools (using most of!)
  • Rags and degreaser (I'll be needing these)
  • Lots of gasket stuff, glues, clamps and other crap I don't think I'll need
  • 3 lights (floor halogen), dual halogen on a stand and a portable flourescent

Tough part is figuring out how to get the engine there. Assuming that the work is done there, which it probably will be.

Other stuff I'll bring:
  • Laptop
  • EPC software, factory manuals, etc.
  • Spray on rid for those pesky insects!
  • Various snacks I'll think of on the day
  • Coke, and rum!

i may be able to help you out there geoff, if you can get your engine strapped onto a small pallet or similar.........my little plan at the moment revolves around the truck, the tyres on it are due for a regroove, & i thought i might book it in early on the day of dodgy at Advantage Nerang (they've looked after me for ages with the truck tyres)........then i was gunna come around to Jules place & annoy everyone & eat Waynes Wingz.........so, we could quite easily get your gear into the back of the Isuzu.........let me know in chat mate & we'll sort something

Hmmmm, I'm keen. I need to flush & change my brake fluid over. I've got the gear sitting there and have nothing with it. A few experienced hands would make me feel a whole heap better about attacking it.

Sabretooth - I've got a ute and access to an engine hoist so I could help with the engine transport if ya need it. Lemme know.

If anyone needs to detail their car, I'd b happy to bring me trailer down with all my gear. Wet/dry vacs, polishers and nasty chemicals etc......

EDIT: I can bring ramps/chassis stands/1 light/booze/drugs n hookers if required :D

I'm keen! Nothing else on at this stage, and don't expect anything more important to crop up in the meantime. :D

Possible job/s would be changing gearbox and diff oil, and investigating slow window operation.

I can bring axle stands and some basic tools - spanners, sockets etc.

Failing all that, I'd be interested in just going along for a look see and to lend a hand if needed. :)

ASE05, at the very least i'd be keen to see what sort of gear/products you use and how it's all done etc.

I also have a spare set of very slightly used stock spark plugs - if anyone coming to GCDDI wants to do a plug change, they are yours for beer.

They've been sitting in the toolbox for ages and there is barely a mark on them.

I'll be there, and I'll bring my car ramps (probably safer than stands for some jobs). I have some decent socket sets and stuff but I'm sure everyone has these covered?
