You guys don't need a dyno - just a good old fashioned tug-of-war should do the trick! 50 foot of anchor chain, hook em up and see who moves forward! Just need an empty industrial estate, a video camera, girl in bikini to drop the flag - could become a real spectator event I reckon :P

*just remembered there aren't any empty industrial estates any more - they're full of dirfting ricers!*

Might need to start a 'book'. Currently we have 4 SPs turning up, all in various states of tune. I'm working on another.

Also a few Clubmans, a smattering of 1.6NAs, NB8A & Bs and my lone NC. The missing model?.......the SE but I'm sure that will change.

I've got an HD video camera, but I look lousy in a bikini.
If you guys want to have that tug-o-war, I'll video it for you.

sean... its called a club because its a group of people with a common interest.. its not just about showing up to dyno your car or drive, its a social outing

i admit i will be running my car on the dyno and to get a figure against other cars with a similar setup... see what others have done differently.. see if it works better than what ive done.

BUT like i said its a club.. its more a chance to gass bag meet some people.. make some friends and well.. BBQ :P :P

i remember i used to go to the toymods dyno days with my brother and i didnt even own a car :D

 Thanks for the explanations :D

Like I said previously, I was a member for a number of years and met some great people and learnt a lot through the club (and this forum).

The club genrally doesn't suit me anymore, like I said, I'd like to turn up to this day, ut I'm not going to join for one event, so I'm hapy to sit this one out.

If I find the club starts having more functions that I'd like to be part of, I'd likely join again.

Let me know what you want and we'll see what can be done.
The more input we have the better we can make the club. :D

Obviously there must be others out there, members and ex members that have ideas, please share them with us, don't keep it to yourself. 8)

Drop me a line at captain@mx5.com.au and we can go from there.

just out of interest, will all boosted cars be in the same category? Would a 1.6 be up against the 1.8s and a 2 litre if one turned up?

Yep, one trophy for all boosted cars.
You have to stop somewhere otherwise we would end up with more trophies than you could poke a stick at.

Think about it. You would need one for stock, one for modified, one for supercharged and one for turbo for each model group. NA6A, NA8A, NB8A, NB8B, NB8C plus a standard and modified for the SE and the NC, that's 24 trophies.

I don't think members are coming along for the trophy but to get together and have some fun with mates and their MX5s. The trophy is just a liitle added bonus.

This should casue for some heated competition 8)

AFAIK most of teh boosted 1.8s are only mildly modded, and a number of the 1.6's i know of are extensively modded - Can't wait to hear the results

Hear ye, hear ye, hear ye.

All those that are thinking of coming to the Dyno Day and have not yet responded; don’t wait too long, otherwise you maybe disappointed.

To date we look to have a great turn out with 17 MX5s wanting to have a run plus a few more coming to look and help out.

That leaves only about 8 spots depending on how long it takes to run each car.

So if you were thinking of just turning up and running you might want to respond otherwise you could miss out not only on the dyno run but the BBQ.
