One thing you learn when you start hanging around the MX5 Club is that it's one of those car clubs where not every member is on the forum!

There will definitely be club members heading to the Brass Monkey Run - apparently it can attract upwards of 200 cars, and 100 open-top cars. Should be awesome, i'm hoping i can make it.

Meanwhile, have been driving the NC around in this lovely cold weather with the top down as much as possible. Have yet to need the full strength of the heater! Dress appropriately and top-down winter driving is in many ways more enjoyable than the heat of summer.

Hi Jimi, sounds like a great run but just be aware there are ongoing road works in the National Park and sections of it have been closed this week.

After driving south yesterday a section of the park was closed but all works are done Monday to Friday but some sections are still a little rough and have been gravel/dirt.

If it rains it will be a real downer for the day. Let's hope it stays clear. Every other day is meant to be fine... how crap is that.

Do you know the percentage of accuracy of a forecast more than 48 hours out? I have organised enough runs over the last decade with various clubs to know that up until the last 12 hours there's no point checking forecasts. But some people like to be seen to be keen, while not actually being so...

Yes, i'm stirring. :D

Oh, incidentally, even if the forecast is fine, when you crest Macquarie Pass, you are entering one of the highest rainfall areas in the state. I have been on drives around there which had rain and sun within the space of an hour. Fours seasons in one day and all that.

In short: prepare for anything!

The BOM also does forecasts for outside the Sydney CBD. Might be better to check them since the drive isn't through the burbs.
