Hi all,

ok, it is on again and I am keen to go:

AROCA SPRINT ROUND 9 PHILLIP ISLAND PRACTISPRINT, Sunday 17 November.

"3.5 Drivers who have not dríven at this circuit before are required to participate in the Practice Session with an Instructor
who, with your permission, may drive your car."

This didn't happen last year. Who else is going and is willing and able to show a 40 something rookie the ropes of how to get the most of our fabulous & famous race track?

Last time I found the scrutineers to be really helpful and understanding, but I would like to be a good boy and have everything ready at first go this time around:

All vehicles will be required to comply with General Requirements for Cars and Drivers, Schedules A & B, of the
2013 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport and be capable of road-registration. These requirements include:
• A fire extinguisher AS 1841.5, less than three years old from date stamp, rigidly mounted with metal bracket and
readily accessible. (BCF / Halon types are illegal).
• A blue triangle with sides of 150mm on the bodywork indicating the location of the battery. We shall have them
at driver check in for purchase if you require.
• Headlights, fog lights etc. to be covered by a transparent adhesive film.
• A safety belt or harness complying with Schedule I of the current CAMS manual. Must NOT be more than 5
years older than date stamp
• Be fitted with a return spring on each throttle in the event of the throttle linkage becoming detached. Fuel
injected cars are exempted from this requirement.
• Bonnet Catches: All vehicles fitted with a front-opening panel (eg. Bonnet), must utilise two separate fastening
systems.
Additional AROCA requirements for this event:
• Metal valve caps fitted to each tyre
• AROCA (Vic) Division Inc. prohibits the use of ‘R’ type tyres with steel rims.

I have Yokohama semi slicks on alloy wheels same as last year but what is an R tire and why are they banned on steel rims?

Was planning on making this track day.

Will be a first time at a Phillip Island (only ever done Winton previously). Pretty pumped!

I wouldn't worry about this too much. No smart person would run steel rims on a track car, way too heavy.
'R' tyres is essentially a term for 'semi slicks'

I will not be attending, I have girlfriends that need to be kept happy that day.

Still better than once a year after you are married.
