Thanks Phil. Actually I suspect my improved time was mainly due to the Star Specs I'm now running. It appears that they're about a second or so quicker around Wakefield than the Adrenalin RE001s that got me to 1:16.80. Which means that given better conditions, I'm aiming for a high 1:15 by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!

I've been curious to know how they would go in comparison to the Adrenalin's. Of course I can't see for myself given my current location, but it's nice to know that it seems they're better on other cars

The new lap records for the June 4 Club track day are now shown on Page 1.

The day was very cool with a strong south westerly blowing up in the afternoon.

New Class records were :

Class 1 NA6A 1:16.34 Bryan Shedden (-0.46 seconds)
Class 2 NB8B 1:15.72 Glenn Thomas (-0.03 seconds)
Class 6 NA8A 1:13.59 Phil Munnings (-0.02 seconds)
Class 7 NC 1:10.16 Ralph Thompson (-0.01 seconds off Chris Gough’s time)

Congratulations on a fantastic effort to all.

PS. It looks like the writing is on the wall. After Patrick's turboed NA running on slicks, the next 4 fastest cars were NC's on R-Spec tyres.

Steve did but was off his best pace I believe.

Mark did in Andrew's car. Neither of them were particularly happy with their times from memory.

Yeah the car unfortunately was having coil pack issues that were progressively worsening during the day, you can see in the times that we both got quicker as we got used to the car again and did some setup changes on shocks/brake bias. Then rapidly going backwards as the car lost heaps of power so we called it early. I ended up losing 2 sessions due to the bonnet popping open once (Session 1) and then again when David Hammond unleashed a cataclysmic fog attack (Session 4 red flag). Really frustrating as the car has heaps of potential and it didn't feel like I was anywhere near it... Andrew was in group 3 too which meant he was negotiating traffic very rapidly . Fun car but much much more difficult to drive compared to my car.

I wonder if the time would've been even faster if there wasn't as much of a twitch on turn 2. I guess the dampness didn't help grip that day.

Well July 29 proved to be a big weekend for new Club records. Some were smashed, others new.

The day saw the introduction of a fully prepared race engine in an NC and the first supercharged NC’s on the track.

Records broken were by:

Bryan Shedden improved his stock NA6A time with a 1:15.80
Luke Kovacic set a new stock NC record of 1:13.78 in his Father's car, which also beat the previous R-Spec tyres class record.
Ian Vickers the Clubman NB8A record with 1:15.50
John Karayannia the first Clubman NB8B record with 1:15.97
Phil Munnings (the 2B class) NA8A time of 1:13.16
Hayden Tilly the modified SP class with 1:09.75
Stuart James with the first supercharged NC time of 1:11.78
Ralph Thompson drop the modified NC time to 1:10.06
and Daniel Deckers in the race prepared NC took two times, one on treaded tyres with a 1:09.34 before switching to slicks to set a 1:07.05 for the fastest time of the day.

Ian's NB8A is still standard with road tyres so he's also beaten William Mewett's old record of 1:15.80. Ian and I are in the same boat of running standard cars in the Clubman class.

John Karayannia the first Clubman NB8B record with 1:15.97

I believe it should be "Karayannis". Also, you've got a typo on the first post for John's record (1:15.07).

Ralph Thompson drop the modified NC time to 1:10.06

So close to being the first road registered NC into the 1:09s!!! As Maxwell Smart would say: missed by that much. :lol:

Fixed, thick fingers on the key board.

There also was a lot of PB's, Keith in his NB8B with a 1:16.48.
Seems like a lack of brakes enabled Keith to go a little faster.
Russ Maxwell broke into the 1:11's in the NC. Won’t be long before he's "promoted" to Class 9.
