No, not the smallest. Pretty sure that for the 2008 event at Phillip Island, we had ONE attendee from NSW. And he came all the way from Newcastle!

Checked the details and there were two drivers and one pit crew (refer Summer 2009 issue of Club Torque). It was 14th Dec 2008 at Phillip Island (thread link) ... NSW was represented by Phil Mayo (PhilM) from Newcastle (became Convenor of the Hunter Chapter soon afterwards), and Mark Wilson from Canberra (Dealer Principal at Rolfe Mazda at the time). Bob Pimm also made the trip with Phil. Phil had a memorable excursion at Lukey Heights ... there's a video posted on YouTube.

Answers to my questions have been forthcoming:

* Headlights, fog lights etc. to be covered by a transparent adhesive film.

Not needed if we keep the headlights down.
*A safety belt or harness complying with Schedule I of the current CAMS manual. Must NOT be more than 5 years older than date stamp

4 point non end dated harness is OK.
*Bonnet Catches: All vehicles fitted with a front-opening panel (eg. Bonnet), must utilise two separate fastening systems.

Stock dual stage bonnet catch arrangement passes as per CAMS manual.

The only bit I'm not concerned about but to the letter of the law makes me do a double take is...

3.2 All vehicles will be required to comply with General Requirements for Cars and Drivers, Schedules A & B, of the 2012 CAMS Manual of Motor Sport and be capable of road-registration.

Schedule A states "8. be fitted with a safety cage as required by Schedule J (refer to “General Requirements for Cars and Drivers” in the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport);"?????????

Schedule J states in part:
3. APPLICATION
A safety cage structure complying with Schedule J is required as follows:
3.2 Speed and Modern Regularity Events:
(a) Each 1st Category vehicle in a Speed or Modern Regularity Event.
(b) State Championship and above level Speed Events and Modern Regularity Events, other than:
(i) a vehicle of the 5th Category (unless otherwise specified in the Historic Technical Regulations); or
(ii) a vehicle which is road registered.

So we're OK because the car isn't first category (open wheeler) and it is road registered?

Not a great result this time around for NSW and congratulations to the Vics.

We competed in 4 classes and lost three of them before we turned a wheel when the first two runs of the day were the only dry runs and there were no NSW drivers in them. This is not a set-up, just purely the luck of the draw.

Still, another awesome day at the Island under very testing conditions of sunshine, drizzle, torrential rain and worse. There's nothing like hitting a hail white-out at 180kmh.

Kudos for Denni, Tony, Steve, Peter and Ralph for battling it out in the conditions after the big hike down, especially for Denni and Peter who never saw a dryish run all day.

Thanks to Robert for hosting us so well and to Russell and Sam who did their best to set up a fair and open competition. There were still smiles all round. There's a special delight in tiptoeing a Mazda at speed around one of the biggest and fastest tracks in the country.

It was a pity the rain didn't hold off a bit longer. But I did get 2 dry runs, and managed to get the 2nd fastest time outright of all the mx5's. And a trophy that I was unaware of for modified class win. Next time I go there I am going for a 1:54. And we will have to organize a Wakefield day some time. I know of at least 3 guys that would go up.
