Great stuff Phil! Very informative.
Is there a general consensus on how much quicker/slower the newer versions of the MX5 over the previous one (ie. NC over NB8B over NB8A over NA8 over NA6 etc) on Class 1 specs if dríven by the same driver on identical conditions? Then there are of course the two factory turbo models (ie. SP & SE).
For instance someone told me a standard NC is about 2 seconds quicker than a standard NA8 on street tyres @ Wakefield. Is this accurate?

I punted my stock NC around (1:15.07) 2.5 second faster than my stock NB8C (1:17.76) with the same tyres, so yes the NC is faster. Also there was no difference in times between the stock NC and a stock SE with similar drivers on the same day.
I don't have a time for a stock SP on stock tyres. I have one for Peter McAulay on road tyres but his SP is not stock at a 1:13.68.
You can see from the figures that the NB8A is quicker than the NB8B by a whopping 0.2 seconds.
The main problem with getting good stock times now for the older NA models is that most are modified. If some members ran these stock NA's earlier than the date I've started and had better times, let me know and I'll chase the archived records.

AWESOME work Phil. Thanks for posting this list. Is there are particular reason that your records date back to only July 2004? Is that just what you had ready access to? I'm new to the MX-5 scene, so I've no idea when the club started holding track days at Wakefield Park. What's their history?

Phil I spotted a few things that you might like to update or comment on ...
1) William Mewett's best time in Class 1 was set on 4th May, rather than 4th April.
2) Class 2 SE best time is on the old surface if that 2006 year is correct. Suggest you add some ** to that record.
3) Some of these records appear to have been posted at supersprints rather than club track days (eg Class 7 and Class 8 NBSP on 3 May 2009). Is this why they don't appear on the records list of the club website?
4) The modified NA's of Peter Browning and Kevin Addison, are they 1.6L or 1.8L? I guess they're so modified it doesn't really matter!

Yes, you have to do it at a MX5 Club Track Day for your time to be on the list. You don't have to be a member to get timed. Though non-members' times are not included in the MX5 classes.

Yes, I imposed on a couple of people to go and dig up the information and rather than take up their valuable time I asked for the last 5 years. As Wakefield has been resurfaced, 80% of the records will be after December 2007.

Yep, El Presidentee.

Times are taken from Club days or members attending State Supersprints representing the Club.
Sure have a go at breaking the Club record but it won't count. Sorry, bragging rights only, needs to be a Club event.
The NA8 record is lower than that shown. I know Craig has a lower time and he wasn't the quickest but time prevents me fom investigating further that's why I asked for anyone who has information to forward it. I would expect that the modified NA8A record would be around the low 1:13s. Mactype might know as he had a very quick Clubman which really is in a different Class again.
The Club is holding an event at Wakefield later this month.

Neither of those 2 cars are road registered which disqualifies them from most of the competition leagues. Peters is a 1.6 but Kevin runs a 1.8.

So when did MX-5 Club NSW first start organising these track days at Wakefield Park? Does it date back to when the track was first built in 1994? Or is it a more recent phenomena?

Does the MX-5 Challenge qualify as a "club run event". If so, would Daniel Decker's qualifying time of 1:05.3495 on 1st February 2009 count for this list? Actually, now that I think of it, probably not because these times were recorded with the normal start/finish line on the main straight rather than the club's start/finish in the fish-hook. I think I've answered my own question!

No that doesn't count as you said it's not an mx5 clubday. Most of those Ballistic Mx5 missiles that go in Prod sports and in the Mx5 challenge don't come to the club days except when developing/trialing something new on their cars. The FAST fast cars are significantly more expensive to run per day, I used to be surprised how often we saw the Mania car when I started in club events. Me and Irwin actauly go in all the wakefield events for the mx5 challenge now and we're pretty much mid-pack with the Atmo 2F cars. Well...depends how often we go rallying per lap
