Another Great mx5 club track day today.

Plenty of runs and good conditions. A few tenths short of my pb but i think I've found some consistency that I've been lacking .

Thanks to the flaggies and the officials

What a strange track it was today where the more grip you had the more problems you had with grip.

Apparently there was a drift meeting on this same track two days ago which resulted in kitty litter, after a major oil down, that covered almost all the track.

After a few laps I thought we were on for 57s but the track instead of coming to us went away as it warmed up and it almost seemed you were skating on an ice rink.

I don't think it was the kitty litter but maybe the type of rubber left on the track.

I know from our karting days that high grip tyres following a low grip tyre race could present problems where the high grip tyre pulled the low grip residue off the track or had good grip with the residue but the residue then moved on the track it was attached to with the end result in both cases being the same as in less grip.

Any thoughts from those who ran at SMP today?

Thanks to all who helped put on today's event.

Well... that was fun. Finally managed to get to the closest track to home. If you're ever going to a new track and need to be eased into it, the mx5 club is the way to do it.. Thanks Luke for the training. Couldn't have picked a better trainer if I tried :)

It's a great little track; lots of twists and turns, but what's with the gravel in random places esp. at 7/8/9.. couldn't see the forest for the trees sometimes. Loved it anyway and lots more to learn about it, so looking forward to the next one.

There were some crazy drivers there today.. esp. that red NB  Hope they managed to sort out their differences, those two. Looks like everyone had fun and went home safely, so that's good.

Thanks to all the organizers / volunteers for their efforts. A great day out.

You and Luke are like a pair of fox terriers, .... boundless enthusiasm :-)

I think one of our Subaru visitors did a bit of rallying through there. During a break to recover a car we got the ARDC to bring their blowers over and clear the track, so the last few runs should have been less "random".

"Red NB" .... "crazy driver" ...... I wonder who that could be!
He was particularly crazy in the last run trying, but failing, to bridge the 0.06s lead that Bryan had in the same car. But that is the risk you take when you generously allow another fast driver to share your car.

This x100, particularly to the flag marshalls. Unfortunately we didn't have enough to give them each some time for a break, and so they were all at their posts for the whole day. Actually, make it thanks x1000 for the flaggies.

Thanks for your help Todd..

Yes it was a really good day probably because of the track condition.

Looking from the other side of the fence both cars were moving around a lot but the drivers view must have been a whole lot better.

Yes a day to remember.

Take care mate..

I had a great day!!!!
As always thankyou to to the flaggies, marshalls and club organisers for such a smoothly run and relaxed event.
That circuit is soo much fun and barely gives you a break at any stage. It makes wakefield seem like a long flowing circuit lol!
Managed a PB of 1:03 something before our day was over due to a wiring short somewhere in the car resulting in numerous blown fuel pump fuses.
Looking forward to the next meet !!!!!!!!!!
