Re: MX5 Cup Roll Cage Requirements
MX-5 Cup events are run under a AASA permit.
The AASA rules are that roll over protection must have a "safety cage installation certificate" from a AASA approved entity, or be approved by another organisation, ie CAMS.
I suggest you look at fitting roll over protection that complies with CAMS requirements, and that will allow you to get a CAMS log book and/or a AASA vehicle passport for your car.

Re: MX5 Cup Roll Cage Requirements
I'm in the same situation. NB8a currently stock daily drive road registered. I will start with the club hillclimb on 30th April, then Wakefield track day on 15th May. I might even try to enter the NSW Supersprint on 14th May but that may be getting ahead of myself.
I might end up in the MX-5 cup or even some other d2d racing but my immediate goal is to compete in Targa Tasmania 2018 in the GT Sports Trophy class.
I am told that a bolt in CAMS approved roll bar (half cage) wil be sufficient for MX-5 cup and more.
I have ordered a Brown Davis bolt-in to be fitted hopefully on 14th

Re: MX5 Cup Roll Cage Requirements
I have just got my CAMS registration for my BD, preparatory to logbooking the GM2.
If you are looking to doing the same, PM me for details of how I went about it in the absence of the BD's CAMS paperwork.
OTOH, if you buy one with the CAMS sticker, or the BD CAMS paperwork, problem solved
PS If it has the sticker, it should also have the CAMS registration paperwork all signed off.

I believe CAMS registration and sticker is linked to the VIN of the original vehicle and is not automatically transferable. Swapping the bar into another car will need a reapplication to CAMS with VIN of new car (that's what I had to do). You'll also get a fresh rego sticker. CAMS rego is only really required if you ultimately decide to apply for a log book.

Re: MX5 Cup Roll Cage Requirements
Thanks Tony, I didn't know that.
FWIW, CAMS logbooking is being pushed by the NSW Supersprints panel, for road registered cars, hence my interest for the GM2 (it is the backup for the racecar). I know of another club that is/was looking at the same for their multi-club events, looks like it is becoming a 'thing' ...

PS Just looked at my paperwork, and it does identify the VIN number.

Re: MX5 Cup Roll Cage Requirements
I cancelled my order for the BD bolt-in for the NB when I bought Dan's NC.
The NC has a welded in half cage by Deckspeed.
I had the car log-booked last month. The cage now has a CAMS sticker and is certified in the CAMS log book.
Thanks to Deckspeed I got the logbook just in time to compete in round 4 of MX-5 Cup.

Updating, for the record.
The BD is now in the SE. The SE is now logbooked, and I got new paperwork for the BD registration showing the BD in the SE, but it has retained the original registration sticker/number.
