It seems these things give out after about 7 or 8 years.
They cost about $37 but I'm tight, retired and thought I'd spend some of the day trying to fix it.
Note the gap between the side cover and the seat due the broken plastic fitting inside the cover.

No need to remove the seat.
Drop the roof
Use force to remove the recline lever cover in the direction of the arrow.
Note the "tag" (circled in blue) on the lever that holds the cover in place.
Tip: Try using a bent screwdriver or similar to lift the plastic clear of the "tag" a little bit it to get it started.
The lever cover is flexible plastic and will pull past the "tag" but needs a fair bit of force in the direction of the red arrow.

Remove rear seat rail bolts and loosen the front bolts.
Block up the rear of the seat
Remove the phillips head screw near the recline lever and jiggle the side cover off.

The hook on the seat that holds the side cover and the broken hook receiver.

Receiver reinforced with a scrap strip of roofing metal and a couple of small screws, then covered with a bit of race tape to prevent it tearing the leather/vinyl.

Refit everything, vacuum under the seat (it has probably been a while) and love your repaired interior. Note no more gaps.
