Sorry, really wanted to make it unfortunately we have a birthday in the family on that day and I'll be hung if I'm not there.

Want to see lots of photos though!

That's fairly standard at QR if you're not a participant - insurance thing?

I can't comment on the rest of the restrictions though.............sound a bit over the top.

OMY005:

I, for one, give you full permission to videotape and photograph my car. If you publish the photos on the internet, you might want to get permission out of courtesy, but for personal use? It is a public place. Shoot away.

I got the feeling that non Natmeet participants were not really welcome even though I am a member of the club. I hope I am wrong about this though. :)

Whatever mate, I've never heard such garbage. So you going to QR tomorrow?

Yes I will be there. Looking forward to seeing so many 5's together. :)

As for never hearing such garbage. I'm also in a video makingclub and other members come across request for permission to film or to stop filming altogether all the time now. :?

RRdstr - yeah mate thats fine
if your coming south down the M1 take the Nerang north (Surfers Paradise exit) and turn right at the lights and you will see Mobil on the left about 5 mins up the road.
Just look for the Blue MX-5 and an S2000.

Ive also PM'd you my number just incase...

There isn't an official club run down to the concourse, there were only a few people interested in the end and no-one to lead the group.

The invitation is still there if you want to make your own way down there and have a look.

Remember it will be all over by 10.15am

I was considering going, but taking into account that it takes 1.5hrs to get there, I don't think staying for a 2hr event will be worth it. Hopefully everyone gets lots of pics. :)

I have been a professional film/video producer for nearly 30 years and have never been asked to stop filming anywhere. As Rhysk's post says - there is nothing to stop anyone filming in a public place (although some councils will ask for money if you are filming on their property - all Sydney councils do this now - and want to see your public liability policy). Shooting military installations is a total no-go zone in Australia.

Motorsport is open slather from the spectator areas, but you would need permission from the officials of the meeting to venture anywhere outside these areas (and these days permission is rarely granted to amateurs for insurance reasons). Filming at QR and Wakefield is easy with a long lens as most of the circuit is visible from the spectator areas. Release forms are only necessary when you are making an advertisement. Happy shooting!
