Legally you should go to an A/C place to get them to evacuate the gas for you. After that just start unbolting.

heya!

yeah i did mine a few months back..
very very easy..

i went to a mechanic who does aic con, and they were glad to take what was left of the gas.

once its out, just unbolt the bits of the system...

one bolt which holds the backet for the compressor, has to be replaced with a shorter one.

i just cracked the hose myself and let the gas out.
hope this doesnt upset the greenies to much.
if you do it yourself just crack it slowly till you get a nice flow going. then go have a coffee.

It didn't need fixing. It is illegal to evacuate the gas into the atmosphere. It is also illegal for a non-certified A/C person to work on A/C systems.

well, technically you can work on an aircon unit unless it involves degas & regas, but i agree with Garry AND Matty, leave it the hell alone & let the experts do it..........i certainly hope you did it out in the open & kept your face away from it when you let it go Glenn, that sh*t is NOT good for your health son

Hehe..I like it.

The bolt Kula is talking about goes in to the front of the engine and holds the compressor bracket,if you don't refit with a shorter bolt you will get an oil leak from the engine as this bolt secures the oil pump/front timing cover.

That bolt has a special fine thread on it.Best bet is to get old one and take it to an enginnering suppliers or car wreckers for a shorter one.
