lol wish i was mate, the auto elec got it going properly. turns out that when i blew a fuse(installing) it might have upset the ecu a little. car is running but they offered to send it back too microtech just to check the ecu itself. i accepted as i didnt want to get half way home and have it die on me. hopefully end of this week or maybe next.

Not wishing to sound completely ignorant (can't remember how you wired it), but can you just plug the old ECU in until the MicroTech is looked at??

i could if i wanted to but i would also have to use my stock injectors. it really isnt worth it as it could/will turn horribly wrong driving it around like that. the car is still at maztech so will just wait for phone call :)

Yeah certainly not worth doing that... ohh and if you even hit 0psi inlet pressure you would have already started exceeding the factory mapping so even if it didn't run like a pig you'd have to keep it off boost the whole time. Hope it's not your only car, because that's the one reason I refuse to turbo mine until I have a second car. I want the option to push it back into the garage and leave it for a week. :)

lol yes i have 2 cars, i decided to take my time in doing this which i have enjoyed the most parts. not 100% fun if you know what i mean.

also my reason for taking my time has also been my wallet.

my project has been on the go for nealy 5.5 months :)
the end is near. the day i pick it up i'd like to take a picture with me turning the key for the first time :)

I reckon you'll be needing that clutch, the standard 1.6 (it is a 1.6 isn't it?) one barely hold the stock power output. :)

are you refering to na or turbo. either way 100's of people that have used the greddy kit in the states havent changed there clutch on the stock output of the turbo if thats what your refering too? i think the td04 runs betwwen 7-9 pound stock. im not really following what you mean

The Pupat wrote:Might be worth swapping to the 1.8L clutch and flywheel whilst you are at it also.

if i was going to go 1.8 then wouldnt i be better off do it fully ie aftermarket as wouldnt the 1.8 clutch cave in aswell?
the greddy kit in the states doesnt make mention of changing the clutch.
i think alot of things comes down to the driver :)
if i was to drive it like i stole then yep, the stock clutch wouldnt last 1 day.

Missed this post.

I've never researched the greddy kit but I would have a feeling most owners do it on the cheap so I wouldn't surprise me if they are making do the stock when it really isn't up the task. Also I reckon you would be putting out significantly more since you got all the extra bits to make the power (spark control, fuel control et al).

By 1.8L clutch what I meant was swap to a 1.8L flywheel which allows you to run a larger diameter clutch and therefore a higher load rating without requiring 747 to crash on the clutch pedal to move it.

But you can always try the suck it and see approach... you'll only wreak a clutch that you won't want anyway so no great loss. :)

Small update, i think they are determined to get it out of there shop as i have been recieving many phone calls off them. The injectors arent much good. had them cleaned and flow tested this morning and there is more than a 30% variation across the 4 of them. they will not go back in now. they bought some new ones $140 each  but now im also focused on getting the car out of there. the new injectors shall go in the car tomorrow and maybe tune tomorrow arvo.
