Rods!

Postby sabretooth » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:52 pm

We have rods! Here are a few photos of the B6T rods I ordered, with a comparison to the original MX-5 rods included also. They're a fair bit meatier, and feel a little heavier. I can't really qualify as to how much heavier they are, though.

Definitely a good upgrade - especially considering that they only cost $150!

Are these interchangable with the BP and BPT rods? They look like an excellent upgrade...

What boost are you planning to run once the engine is together? I've heard these rods stand up to high boost quite well, or are you doing it more for peace of mind?

Indeed, B6, B6t, BP and BPT rods are all interchangable in terms of size.

It was $150 - found it on a forum. Some pop up on eBay from time to time - the last set I saw on eBay (pointed out by a forum member, actually) was $160.

There were some passed in on eBay last week.

Same guy was selling Mazda turbo pistons too.

Do a search and see if he wants to sell the rods?

From previous involvement with Familia & TX3 turbo's, I'd heard that if you order rods for a B6T from Mazda/Ford Australia then you will now be supplied with BPT rods as they only manufacture the (not as strong) later versions for both engines.

So that means you have to buy secondhand B6T rods to get the beefier version. Can anybody confirm if that is true?

thanks

Rod, you're right they do not manufacture the B6T rods anymore.
