I popped the big question to Jen in Queenstown (NZ) while on holidays. She thought I was asking if she'd like me to get her some more wine and said yes.......

And a beautiful part of the world to pop the question. Well done.

The question was asked at the Gondola restaurant overlooking Queenstown at night, on a cloudless evening, following a fresh powder day at Remarkables with over 18" of fresh soft stuff.

All jen could say was 'Oh my god' over and over before accepting, so QT will always be firmly locked in our places to remember.

And sorry sabre to hijak your thread. Back to topic I'm always happy to offer under our place for dodgy days - Jen can go shopping - at least I don't have to worry about jewellery stores for a while.....

It's on the market and clean as an operating theatre. Plus not enough room for more than 3 cars.

Jules - I'm happy to book in another dodgy day whenever you want - in fact - I'll put up an EOI now.....

I just rang UMR and had a chat to one of the guys there. Tomorrow morning I'm going to take my block, crank, head, rods, pistons and any other relevant bits and pieces to them and organise the following work:

Rods:
  • Check
  • Lighten the heavier of the rods to match the others
  • Shotpeen
  • Polish

Block:
  • Test for cracks
  • Dip
  • Bore according to the size of the pistons (clearance specs of pistons are required)
  • Machine deck

Crankshaft:
  • Check
  • Balance
  • Machine (if necessary)

Head:
  • Crack test
  • Dip
  • Machine underside

While I'm there, I'm going to check:
  • If they can tune Haltech, and what they charge for a dyno tune if they do
  • Can they supply new valves?
  • Can they supply bearings?

Anyone, feel free to suggest anything I should add to those lists!

Get them to gap the rings after the re-bore.

Make sure that they/you can get bearings to suit any crank machining.

Is it worth align boring the block?

You're doing everything right to build quite a tout and reliable package there sabre.

I'd suggest spednign a few hundred dollars extra to get some more work done on the head while it's off....

A basic freshen up and:
Unshroud the valves
Polish combustion chamber
Clean up of the ports (doesn't really need porting as such).

Look for ACL bearings, they are said to be a good improvement over stock for oiling.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.
