With the weather forecast the way it is, I've prepped both cars.....if it's dry then the 626 will be out to play otherwise....if it's wet, the 5 will be out on road rubber. :| oh well either way I get to have a play....still would prefer a dry circuit though!

Outstanding day again today - even the weather held off out there. No incidents or big mechanical failures apart from a couple of Skylines and WRXs having a cough and splutter :) and ORX626 pushing a ball joint out of the lower control arm of the 626  . The old 626 was never meant to go that fast in corners it seems.

Next one is 28 Nov 06.

Yeah, I don't think the guys at Mazda who specified the interference fit for the ball joint in the lower arm based their calculations on forces as high as what I'm subjecting it to. The force applied by the sway bar when cornering is obviously in excess of the friction force of the ball joint's interference fit. I'll have to come up with some sort of mechanical retainer for the ball joint.....connecting the sway bar directly to the strut is out of the question....but would have been the best solution....ie. no force then applied to the ball joint in the disassembly direction.

Anyhow...got the 626 on a tilt tray @ 11:30am, back home by 12:20pm, unloaded by 12:30pm, a once over of OMX-596 and was back out at QR by 1:50pm :D :D :D ......seven sessions later....a bit of impromptu drifting 8) thanks to "hard as" road tyres.......all added up to a most enjoyable day....looking forward to both trackdays scheduled for November. :D :D :D

yep, that was another great day!

Didn't even get close to my best on the National......very dissapointed :x :( :x

I did however hound the guy in the 5.7L SS Ute(inlet manifold/throttle body and exhaust) and owned him through the corners and overtook him down the straights on three seperate occasions. Hairdressers car my A$$

New brakes are great but tyre pressure issues slowed me up untill mid to late in the afternoon :(

Pics are up on full lock. Only one pic of my car but it was taken from the inside of one of the sharper right hand turns (turn 3 or 5?) just on entry :( Looks like there's about 20 cm clearance between the tyres and the guards because the car is tilted away from the camera. Bluddy awful. :( Guess I won't be buying any prints. Maybe next time.

The website seems to fall over every now and then but I did see some good ones of Phatmx, Vak82, ASE05 and APD.

Woooobluddyhoo cerb

I sincerely apologise for being so hasty and thinking what I saw this morning was the full collection  . I didn't even know anyone was taking \"official\" photos on the day until that post by phatMX above.

Well, I definitely want a couple of those photos from the links above....they even make it look like I'm going fast  . I'll email you within the hour. :D

Site problems: It seemed to completely stop responding a few times this morning and I got the \"site cannot be found\" message from IE at least twice. I'll try it agin later and include any report with the email.

Just letting you all know that the lap times recorded on this day are now available for download at www.timeattack.com.au. It's also great to see the \"Hall Of Fame\" page updated with the latest fastest times too!!!

Bring on the next track day!!! :D

I'm quite surprised with where my final time finished in relation to everybody in the session on the Sportsman Track. It's interesting how the car performed better on a track with more straights compared to the Sprint Track on the day... Oh well, brakes are all worn now and need replacing
