Just spotted the "hill climb" course on the Wakefield picture from the club website! Looks nice and small, with no blind corners!

Has a hill climb been done before during club meets? What's an average time on that puppy?

It sure has been run before!
Average time is around 1 minute.

Looks good in the picture, but there are some tricky bits to it.

Wait till you try the short course!
Now that's fun.

Same....I faxed mine off 2 weeks ago, at the same time as my uncle's, as he will be a guest. My uncle has had the email saying pick up the paperwork on the day....I haven't even had the money taken from my account....it gets better when the people to ask questions to are away until at least wednesday

For anyone wanting to head down to Wakefield as a group, meet on the M5 just after the King Georges Road intersection at Beverly Hills for departure at 5:50am. That will get us to the track some time between 7:30 & 7:45 for scrutineering.

Just over the crest the hill (500m) past the intersection, you will see a small area to pull off the M5. Meet there.

Cheers.

Well it looks like the track will be suitably washed, like it has not!!!!, for the last few years.

With a little luck, we will have a very washed and very dry track = much good times.

For those staying the night, you should be able to have a nice long shower without feeling guilty that some poor local will not be able to make their morning cuppa!!!

I very much doubt that it will be a day to push the envelope though, might be a few rather deep wash outs to contend with, in fact, at the top of the track, mx-5's will probably be swallowed up never to re appear!!!!

But please, don't be nervous, cause if you are we may never see you again!!!

Either that or it will be as wet as!!!, and Stan will spend the day spinning in the paddock wondering!!!

Whatever, it has been ages!!!! and I need a fix!!!!

Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah tis a shame I didn't notice ur post earlier I went down saturday night......and it was quite nice, since the place I was staying at was right next door to the local pub :D

I must say for a first track day that was the best fun I've ever had, and I still can't work out why I never went to one sooner...

Slow times Stan.

Day was very hot, mid 30s. Track was freshly washed with rain during the week and overnight. I’ve never see the country side around Goulburn so green. Obviously that helps when you spin off as the dust isn’t a problem. We had a full field and then some.

Generally times were 1 to 2 seconds slower than normal. Best I managed was a 1:17.14 (I think) on the main circuit, down just over 2 seconds. Hillclimb time was about a second slower and the short circuit 1½ seconds slower. The NBs that generally turn in mid 17s were well into the 18s. What did show out was that sticky rubber made about 2 seconds difference on the day.

The highlight? Watching and listening to Barry Faux in the supercharged V8 Bullitt blasting round the track.

Benny had overheating problems as quite a few of the turbo cars did, so they needed to get in a quick lap at the start and then back off to allow the car to cool down.

I’m sure others will give you their views shortly.

Was an interesting day. I concur that it was bloody hot. Even my car was having heat issues towards the end of the day. Driving around the track with the heater pushing out hot air full blast to keep the engine temperature down was NOT fun.

I managed a 1:16:84 on the main circuit, very happy to collect second place in the class and hold out the Winning Blue NC in all events but the Hillclimb. I think my best time on the short circuit was about 44.40.

Sticky rubber was definitely an edge. Although at the beginning of the day, with the rain sprinkling down, I thought I would be changing over to my road tyres, but was very glad it didn't come to that.

Another very well run day, and lots of fun.
