Much negotiation had to be undertaken to use the car

I think she forgot all about that after watching you have the first spin, the dummy spit, the slower runs down the drag strip....

I hope she wasn't too dirty about the reaction time, I was giving her this talking to about launching the Polo and when to go etc, and she followed it all but had a RT of .399!!!

On the topic of Coastal Challenge, its looking like a good event. Friday will be a fantastic day, I wouldn't miss it (well I won't else you guys probably will stand around a carpark all day). Saturday is also shaping up OK now. We will be out there this weekend doing the road work, and just to make sure none of you complain, I will use the MX5. OK, the real truth is after 12 hours in the Charade 2 weeks ago, bouncing of banks and through potholes in the rainy Beerburrum State Forest, I really don't want to spend another day in it that soon. Plus I haven't cleaned the mud from the insides of the glass yet! Further, the MX5 has more grunt even with the aircon on.

As you would have seen from the supp regs, the costs are a bit higher this year. Unfortunately, CAMS costs have gone up a bit. But we are trying to put on an event with new speedy bits. Not sure how many new roads we will find.

We will need volunteers to help out as per previous years, and if anyone would like to help, or knows anyone who can help, that would be fantastic.

Oops always a bugger when that happens. Not that I have had that happen since last time I went to the drags my reaction time was measured in minutes I think. :)

After 14hours in the car today, the blue MX5 finally made it home extremely dusty. And the worst part, we haven't finished all the road work so it will be back out there again later this week. We did cover over 700km today, and didn't think we had to turn round too many times.

For competitors, rest assured though that the roads are fanstastic. We included about 3kms of dirt road only because it was fantastic. All 3rd and 4th gear stuff, very smooth, lots of undulations, lots of corners, and mainly because we are hoping that there will be a reason to don the helmets somewhere along here. Let's hope!

We managed to inclu]de some new roads, quite a few actually. So lets get those entries in (I hear that an MX5 was the first entry received).

No boltcutters necessary, track was open to cyclists. I don't know if it was a bike club thing or not, I noticed that the Pine Rivers Triathlon club had a shed on the grounds. Not sure I would relish swimming through that dam though.

On an aside, after getting this Coastal Challenge out of the way, I intend to go out there with the pushie for a couple of laps of the hallowed tarmac.

If you're thinking about entering this event, or would just like to know more about it, pop along to the information evening at the BSCC clubrooms (1/206-208 Montague Road, West End) at 8pm Wednesday night(14th March).
Drop me a PM if you need more info.

Cheers,

Good to see the MX5s present at the info night.

I have just had word that the events at Lakeside will be on. Of course all this can change at the last minute, but at this stage everyone seems confident that it will happen.

What I do need though are some volunteers (a couple is all we need) to help run the Lakeside bit. Competitor cars will get there at around 11am on Friday March 30, and I expect the last car out of there well before 1pm. So, if you can spare a few hours on Friday March 30 and are willing to take a drive out to Lakeside and watch some cars (including MX5s) being dríven in anger, please reply here. We will need you there about 10am to start setting up.

And those who are going to view the ARC cars in Nambour on Saturday evening, get there a bit earlier and you will see the same MX5s running through the same super special that the ARC field will be using.

C'mon folks! There are still spots left. Get into it, or come down and help to see what you're missing!

Cheers,

Coastal Challenge '07 - Now with video!

Postby Fra66L » Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:53 pm

Yet another brilliant event culminating in a gravel special stage with the ARC cars (well we were the support act/guinea people) at the Nambour showgrounds. Apparently posted a 1:35:02 - not sure if this is good or not but I don't really care as we had loads of fun. Lakeside special test was awesome.

Thanks yet again to Ted, Jackie, Andrew, and all the other other helpers along the way. You all did a brilliant job.

There's a link to some in car here!

More vids to come...

Who is the slow poke in front of you  Lucky you can't see who it is

A very big thak you to Ted, Jackie and Andrew for another great event.

We got lost more than we cared to, but still had a lot of fun.

i promise i'll be back doing these soon, saving for a shed at the moment is killing the play things budget, by the time i get round to it i may have fallen into the older catergory and have to go up against fook.
