Man killed in drag-race crash
March 04, 2007 11:50am
A MAN has died after crashing his drag-racing car into a concrete barrier at a raceway west of Brisbane.

The 60-year-old was practising at a \"Test'n'Tune\" day at the Willowbank Raceway at Ipswich when the accident occurred about 8.40pm (AEST) yesterday, police said.

Police are still investigating.

A Willowbank Raceway spokesman said the man was testing his front-engine rail dragster when he crashed. Officials immediately closed the track.

\"Willowbank Raceway officials extend their most heartfelt sympathies to the man's family at this difficult time,\" the spokesman said. It is the second serious accident at the raceway in a month.

Two men were critically injured when their race car slammed into a wall at the track on February 11.

We saw the ambo's and fire brigade arrive, but didn't realise it was so serious. I figured it was just precautionary for them to have been called....

I think that chevvy might be from Hervey Bay, a guy there who sells chev bits under the name Bowtie Ind.
