Wow!

It is the best way i can describe yesterday.

First of all let me thank the organisers and all the behind the scenes people that make days like this happen!

My start to the day was less than glorious spinning twice during the instruction laps and turning a very dissappointing 1.37 in my first solo run...

But I did manage a PB by the end of the day at 1.23.69

I couldn't get to sleep last night as i was still too excited.

I had a great time yesterday!

I picked up my NA8 (stock, except for Konis and a strut brace) a few weekends ago, slapped on some old and worn Toyo R881's I had, and managed a 1:16.4 PB.

Gotta be happy with that!

A big thanks to those that helped put the day together yesterday.

Yes, was a great day, except at one point drifting the 2 corners at the top of the hill...without trying haha.......that and me spinning on turn 1

holy cow CB! you almost cracked the class record by rod! a 1.6 sec difference in times really says alot about your old tyres but your certainly looking to be the one to catch now

so were dan and dav drivin on monday or just dav? that car is really really quick and nicely setup... but credit where credit is due, those two fellas are great drivers. i notice they finally gave in and put the black rims on looks hot as especially with those tyres think i heard someone say the mania car has pulled a 1.03.XX before? this true?? thats even more crazy

I turned up the wick on the NC to put six or seven laps in the 1:13 bracket with a PB of 1:13.46 and take out a Class 5 win. Was also the quickest naturally aspirated MX5 on the day

Were they street tyres or DOT approved shagged semi's? They look pretty chunky and tuff. What sort of tyres CB? I might keep my eye open for a used set if they are a softer tyre.

Kumho V700 up front (from the Lotus Series a year ago) and Dunlop D01Js (from the Commodore Cup) on the rear.
Next time out I hope to have shagged D01s all round as the Kumho’s were at the maximum limit for the rim size.

I’m wrapped with the time considering that there’s only 91kW ATW and If I get the tyre pressures right maybe there’s a chance to improve on that time. I can only hope.

Just goes to show you Mazda designed a great car for the average 'Joe Blow' to have some fun in.

Hi Casey,

Yep, 16" rims of a mid 90's RX-7 (Series 5/6?). With the 50 series tyres the diametre worked out the same as the standard 17" with a 45 series tyre.
Offset was only 3mm different from the standard 55mm offset.

Series 6 - very light for their size.

I've got the V700 as my road tyres and am very happy with them - they don't seem affected by heat cycles like some other DOT tyres, so they should be okay when I finally am able to get to the track again

I wouldn't exactly call them "shagged" and ready for the tip for a semi slick.

Evidently CB has far too much moolah if he thinks those tyres need to be thrown on the scrap heap. You should have seen my \"more slick than semi-slick\" tyres that weekend.

Thankfully, I shall be rolling on new R888s at this weekends Supersprint.
