You should do it if you can Rhys. They are top events. A really good place to start if you have aspirations to enter tarmac rallies down the track.

Eric - spectators are welcome, but being a rally you can't actually see everything as the cars don't hang around too long waiting. I actually run a couple of photographers each event, last year I used 3 photographers to handle all venues. If you are interested, email me and we can talk about it. Its not a well paid gig, but the guys did more than cover their costs I think.

Cal - MPS was great for such a boat. Handled really well, a lot of mechanical grip if you trusted it. Took me a few laps to do that though. 160km/h at the start finish line on orig street tyres. Definitely a slow in fast out kind of car, but I have not dríven many cars where you can get on the power that early across the face. I was pulling 4th before hitting the outside edge on the way out of turn 6, and pulling 5th at the start/finish. And all this with the aircon on. Pulling up 1800kg is still a tough gig though, but the brakes were OK for a couple of laps. Then a bit of acool down and it managed to do 2 lots of 10laps with no dramas. Chews a bit of fuel too. And on the road, I love it! Real comfortable, enough grunt to keep me amused, decent enough on fuel to keep the fuel card from wearing out. Only downside is parking, the AWD gives it a pretty large turning circle.

mightyboy - depends what you sent to CAMS? If it was a licence application, then just ring the member hotline and ask where its up to.

The entries keep rolling in, while we battle to get everything organised in time. Reminder that the info night is on tomorrow (Wed) night, at BSCC. Montague Rd West End.

Another Brilliant Queensland Challenge gone......

Thanks again to Ted and the army of helpers that made the event possible. I understand there were a few procedural difficulties throughout the day but I suspect most competitors didn't notice - we didn't! Congratulations and Thank you!

To my fellow MX5 challenge competitors - my apologies for not sticking around to catch up afterwards, we had a dire need to be elsewhere. sorry we missed you.

In all my years of bush bashing (in innapropriate vehicles), paddock bashing and exploring dodgy firetrails, I've never once been bogged. Queensland Challenge fixed that for me...

Should be posting some in-car footage in the next few days... keep you posted....

Also good to see some fresh MX5 blood out there. We may have nearly outnumbered the WRXs this year...

Couldnt agree more with Fra66L - what a great day - and thanks to all the officials, helpers, volunteers.

As a newby to this form of motorsport I thought the day was very well run and any background issues were handled well.

We had a ball with the last autocross stage just topping off a fun day. And what a brilliant choice this Roadster turned out to be for a well balanced driveable car, even in stock std form.

Our biggest challenge for the day was lack of stopping ability with worn, std road tyres all round but not to the extent of the green machine (Datsun?) that took out a fence post with his driver door and sill.

Results? Who cares about results when you have a permanent grin all the way home...

Nah, just more braking issues - still getting used to the new pads and alignment settings....
Honestly, I knew I was on another lap, had to explain that to nav mid lap also..... all fun though!

Unfotunately the in-car mic had issues (either cable or batteries) so I have in-car but no sound..

Thanks rag top posers :) It was good to see the MX5s come out punching above their weight, though I can guarantee you that the top X spots in the speed events were taken out by the turbo 4WD brigade. Unfortunately, we were just too stuffed and only managed to complete compiling all the cards and getting the speed event results in last night. But today is a new day!

Thanks also to Eric and Katie, and Anson who spent the day standing in the dust and line of some cars to pop off snaps. I am sure they have plenty of work to do in the coming days to sort through these and get them to an end state. Huge thanks too to John and Bob for standing in the the shower of startline stones at the end of the day.

Yes, as far as events go, this one was certainly a tough one. Mostly due to our stupid insistence that we do the number of speed events that we did I guess. We pushed the boundaries of time as far as we logistically could, and any blemish became a mountain to overcome. But we did get the event away almost on time, left QR smack bang on our time limit (those Porkas were getting itchy to hit the track I think), and finished the event with the end of the natural light. BTW we realised on the way home that we saw sunrise and sunset at Willowbank! The Charade covered 1300kms for this event (only 300 yesterday), and I must climbed in and out of that cage 50 times yesterday and bloody feel it now. We even got to line up to get into the drags last night to the quizzical looks of every LS1 owner in SE Qld, surely champing at the bit to run us down the strip. Unfortunately for them, we were just there to return the keys to the gate.

Thanks for another great event Ted, Jackie and everyone else involved in the event.

It was a big day! Although I didn't quite make sunrise at Willowbank, I did work out I was awake for 20 of the 24 hours of Saturday!!

Cleaning the car yesterday was interesting.

I'll bet it was too. Mine was bad enough and it was just parked at Willowbank for one session.
