PS: We have to mount that conrod in a frame for the pool room
Perhaps it can be handed from "spannerhead" to "spannerhead" as an award.

Did you see the title of this post? :D I put it up on Friday and the first person to even acknowledge it was AJ when he dropped over on Saturday afternoon for a surprise visit.

I had some helpers (JBT, Toddles and friend) and Mickfred offered on Sunday which was a big help, but the HUUUUUUGE job of actually dropping the engine and gearbox in had been completed solo by that stage.

Jen even chose the beer and brought home the pizza.

There wasn't much swearing actually - I was too damn exhausted (except for when a sprung hose clamp unclipped in the pliers and smacked my thumbnail - that really hurt!!!!!)

As for the conrod trophy..... :P ........no more can be said yet.

He did say \"imported\" beer. So, if it came from Germany, it would be imported wouldn't it? :P

I've had a few Pilsners that have erased my memory and a few that have made me feel mammaries but can't say I've had any of the ones UA is talking about.

p.s. real Pilsner comes from Plzeň in the Czech Republic, it's also THE BEST place to sample P.U. anywhere.....

Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.

There's actually an inexpensive and quite drinkable Czech pilsner called Cintra.

I regularly get it at the local for a tiny price for a carton.....

Well..... at long last I can say I am satisfied.

Took the car for the 10 minute test drive today and she goes nicely. You can certainly tell the difference.

Idle still isn't quite right - well - the idle when I back off at lights - I am getting the 'idle droop' problem so I need to blip the throttle - I have my suspicions that the ISC is to blame - it may just need a new gasket cause I believe I may have a slight vacuum leak, or the valve itself may be sticking..... still - this is an easy fix.

So overall, I'm pretty damn satisfied with myself, and must thank everyone here who pitched in to help with tools, time, or sustenance. :D

Good to hear Mikey!! let me know how you go with your ISC...my other MX is having the same prob, I'll try gasket gel on that rubber o-ring but how would you know if ISC is sticky?...how to fix?

Cheers

Pilsner is a town in the Czech Republic. I'd hope the Czechies know a thing or 2 about making it.

I am led to believe also, that pilsner (or pils) is the German word for lager; although I have never seen a formal translation of the 2 words.

Back to the point - great work UA.

What difference can you tell? From the original motor, or since you were having the issues with the new engine? Is there a noticable benifit from the secret you know what...? 8)

I imagine it runs much better now you've introduced a combustible liquid

Well done Mikey! Top effort getting it back together, and adding extra bling whilst you're at it.

As far as the ISC, my symptom was the opposite. At lights the rpm would increase to 1500rpm not decrease, as the intake air bypassed the closed throttle butterfly.

I assume you have done the idle adjustment by now and have a clean throttle body?

Jules, so when the engine is warm/hot, the ISC should be completely close hence shouldn't be drawing any air. I took it apart and found the coolant blockage path causing the engine to heat up more than usual, empty that out and she' now running at nom temp, but still idle rough...not as rough as before but still rough, I'm starting to think seal leaking or maybe it's stuck open / not closing properly...anyway to recondition it back to normal, or has it had it.

Yes - petrol burns better than water :D

I did think of cleaning the throttle body while it was off, but didn't want to destroy the rubber sealing lip around the butterfly valve, hence it remains as it was.....

I'm not sure that the ISC is faulty, but I'll know more once I replace the gasket - best to start with the easy stuff first.....
