I picked up some S-Drives 2 weeks ago, 205/45/16 on these BSA Rims in black. $1320 fitted.

Love them. In this size, they've got more grip then the 195/60/14 Azenis RT615's I had and are really good in the wet. Quieter, better ride, more turn in response, basically there is nothing that's inferior with these $185rrp 16\" S-drives compared to the $195rrp 14\" Azenis.

Nice rims, but try to remove the "RAVS Engineering" and "VORK Racing Wheel" stickers asap. It's an insult to the originals :P .

Dry - Very squirmy for the first 300km then very grippy and predictable. (My mate in a nicely modded GTR could not catch me on the Macquarie Pass).
Wet - Don't know yet

Best value performance tyre????

Tyre - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE01
Size - 195/50R15
Price - $137.50/tyre from KMart


These are a step or two up from the Yokie C-Drives all round.

They're 3 secs a lap faster around Phillip Is (and 13 sec faster than really scary Goodyear F1s) with the same car under similar conditions. They feel much better controlled on the track. They don't suffer anywhere near as much from overheating either.

On the road they're very soft and compliant. I like the supple way they work over poor bitumen country roads. Dry grip's much better. Limited kms in the wet so far but they feel pretty secure there too. Turn-in's really good. Road noise is very low and there's much less harshness coming through into the car. No idea of wear, but they are soft.

Unlike C-Drives which took 700km to scrub in these are good almost out of the box.

Told you I was getting tyres lol

Type - Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001
Size - 195/50R15
Price - $113/tyre including balancing and fitting from Hornsby Jobson Disc tyre & Mechanical
Dry grip - seems alright but I've only dríven on them for 15 minutes
Wet grip - no idea but it looks like rain is coming
Tyre life - nothing changed on the drive home, as expected
Road noise - suprisingly low,
General Comments - I was amazed they are alot quieter than my old ones which were firestone on the front and the original Michelin pilot SX's on the rear. The seem to take in alot more smaller bumps that my old tyres but it's the same over the really rough stuff. They also seem wider than my old tyres that were the same size, noticeably extending from the edge of the rim instead of being flush :?

EDIT: Rears lasted 22,000km, should have rotated them but forgot :oops: (also had 1 trackday and 1 skidpan day)

Bit of an update
Dry grip - Better than average when cold, great when warmed up. Over the last few months they seem to be harder to get heat into though (could be my driving).
Wet grip - Acceptable, I didn't have any issues grip seemed fine for the street. BUT if they let go then it's like driving on ice.

Looks like I'll be buying these tyres when my Kuhmo's die. Maybe with some of the recent track days coming up I can scrub them out a bit quicker :P

Dry grip - average
Wet grip - who knows, I drive like a wuss in the wet
Tyre life - 20 k and well worn out, but plenty of hard cornering and one track day has killed them
Road noise - can't hear any over the exhaust

can't say really how they handle, i need new bushes all round and a decent alignment. I suppose they have done ok for a set of cheap tyres, looking at something a bit stickier next time, budget permitting.

Not really a full test. This was a set of very well worn Dunlop street tyres that I just threw on for a track day at Sandown last week.

Type - Dunlop Direzza DZ101
Size - 195/50/15
Price - /tyre - free
Dry grip - really good
Wet grip - nfi
Tyre life - nfi
Road noise - average

Warm, not hot, sunny day. These worked pretty well from cold and got nicely sticky after a lap or two and stayed that way. This was virtually a Porsche club day, mine was the only MX5 there and they were all running R-spec tyres. Able to run down most of the 911s through the twisties without much drama. They grip very hard and then let go suddenly but you can work them out OK after a few laps. I'd think seriously about these if the price was good.

Took off wheels and tyres to fit 15 x 7 Lightweights.
The Falken Zein 326 aren't a great tyre and very noisy. Tyres were on car when we bought it.
Did 250k yesterday to try out and am very impressed.
Always run Yoko's, but figured the Bridgestone were worth a go.
