bathurst is THE track of australia after all..

how'd the cars feel turning in and through the chase at the end of conrod?

I am SO doing the Festival events this year to give myself the best chance of going to Bathurst next year.

it'd be nice but im not sure i can afford to do the mx5 club, super sprints and FOSC events... but it'd be a hell of alot of fun

Gee I envy you blokes who drove Bathurst. :mrgreen:

I was worried that it might be wet as we had a bit of rain on Friday in Sydney. The photos show the track nice and dry.

Now I have to bring this up. :roll:

Looking at the first lot of times for regularity I see that Chris in the near stock NC did a time of 2:53.93 which when compared to the SEs of CT 2:47.61 & Boyracer 2.51.72 in the race event looks pretty impressive, though I canâ€™t seem to find any other results in the latter regularity events for Chris. Maybe someone who was there can enlighten us.

All in all an awesome weekend. :mrgreen:

Great racing and dicing in regularity. Several times across the weekend Russel, Pat and I were pretty much locked together working our way though the traffic and some of those guys got quite a shock to have us come through so quickly. Down Conrod they were all good as they kept to the left. Across the top thereâ€™d be 3 or 4 using different lines thereby covering just about the whole track. By the end of the weekend the slower guys were more used to looking in their mirrors and we all had our headlights on so it was a lot of fun.

Highlight for me was going around on Sunday with Aaron (who turned 17 that day) right behind be for several laps. We chased an XA GT Falcon who left us for dead in a straight line but we soon caught him over the twisty bits!!! At the end there was 1/100 of a second between Aaron and my times â€“ awesome!!! Young David in the Integra did exceptionally well and drove very cleanly all weekend. All the other race and regularity people has a great time and improved their times each outing as they became familiar with the track. I think we all did around 20 â€“ 25 laps over the weekend and you really need at least 50+ to be comfortable. Based on the times we all did next year should be even bigger!!!

Our NCâ€™s went great. The black car debut on the 1st timed session on Saturday with a mid 2.53 straight out of the box. Having dríven there before made a huge difference for us as we could get straight into the lines. The best time I did in that car all weekend was a 2.51.3. The red and white cars did very well. Aaron down to a low 2.53 and Joe into a 2.56. There were a couple of differences between the cars and this reflected in the laptimes.

In the 2nd session on the Sunday as I turned into the Esses after Skyline the steering column moved to the left about an inch. This in itself was unnerving but then the wiper stalk hit the dash surround and covered the windscreen in washer fluid all the way down the Esses and into the Dipper :shock:

. Obviously I backed off and returned to the pits. Looks like some sort of issue with the adjustable column was to blame so none the less we will get this sorted and check the other cars out to make sure it wonâ€™t happen again.

Great time was had by all and it was nice to catch up with all the people we donâ€™t see all that often â€“ especially the Qldâ€™ers.

That was one of the most exciting race meetings I've ever been to. The last race of the weekend was for me one of the best ever. I made up 9 places and swapped places with Ash Miller 3 or 4 times on one particular lap. Was like racing karts again :lol:

The incar footage is insane.

When it comes to lap times, the regularity guys had an advantage over the racers. As we were racing all manner of sports cars, some where much faster than the MX5's in a straight line and much slower in the turns. Therefore they would get away up Mountain Straight or Conrod only to hold you up the rest of the time. Being a race, it's not like you were just going to back off and let them go. I'm positive, given a clean track I could have found a second or two more. More laps would help too. Anyhow I managed a 2.48.04 in my 2F class car.

For anyone interested, the rfactor simulation of this track is very accurate. More so than most I've dríven. So it is good for practice for next year. http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... rst%20ORSM
