According to the gear calculator I have, these are the results for an SE with that diff ratio:
Gear set: Mazda MX5/Miata 1.8 6 Speed
Gear 1 2 3 4 5 6 Final
Ratios: 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.258 1.000 0.843 3.636
RPM Limit: 7600
RPM @Peak Power: 7600
Tyre Size: 205/50 x 15
Tyre Diameter: 586.00 mm
Tyre Circumference: 1840.97 mm
Gear Km/h per 1000 RPM Km/h @7600 RPM Km/h @7600 RPM
--------------------------------------------------------
1 8.08 61 61
2 13.39 102 102
3 18.47 140 140
4 24.15 184 184
5 30.38 231 231
6 36.04 274 274
Km/h RPM (in Gears)
----------------------------------------------------------
1 2 3 4 5 6
----------------------------------------------------------
I'm not suggesting I don't believe you, just that perhaps something is wrong. Are you certain you have a 3.6 diff and are you certain the shift light is set at 7600? How much power does it have?

This photo just about sums up my weekend. Totally surrounded from lap 1 to lap 3 of every race.

Only exception was I came from rear of grid twice. That was fantastic fun. In the last race I passed 21 cars in 4 laps. Including 10 cars from Murray's to castrol on one lap.
For the record from my data log I did 256kph into the chase on the best run and slowest was 243 and most were 248-254 range. Mind you I only once went into the chase without a car in front of me. My car was fastest in 5th gear and slowed down if I used sixth. I have a 0.88 sixth. 8,000rpm and 625mm dia tyres versus Russell's 590mm dia tyres.
Like Lou I didn't get one clear lap. On one half lap I managed to knock 4 seconds off to get a best of 2:37 but was still held up from Skyline to Forrest elbow and through the chase and Murray's. Next year I dream of having laps like Russell with nothing in front of me.
Cheers
