That really was a great day for racing yesterday. I had a ball and can't wait to go back there. And it's such a great location with the ocean as your backdrop.

I am enjoying the car. I never imagined that it would be the fastest car there.
I mean it still could have so much done to it. - Sway bars, coil-overs all round, nolathane bushes, more boost and definately bigger tyres.
My motorbike tyre is wider than the tyres on the mx5. I will look into it when these tyres wear out.

before spending a lot of money you should check that these things haven't already been upgraded. for example you already have modified suspension - ( looking at your engine bay -your strut tops are most definately not standard). your car sits nice and flat in corners, so you may have thicker sway bars already. measure them with a vernier to check. don't just assume you need to upgrade things, you may end up saving a lot of money !!

And after seeing you on the weekend even if you haven't got all the mods.................do you really need them
Cheers

It has got some coilovers on the front with only 4 settings and the rears are just lowered springs., but it's running the stock bushes, 1.6 brakes and swaybars still.
I talked to an experienced racer and he said that winton will tell me what the car will need.

cool, sounds like you're on the right track then. i'm just trying to warn you against spending money where it's not needed.... this car hobby has ended up costing me a lot more than i initially thought it would!

Thanks for the advise, I am in the middle of a full reno at home so that's taking most of my money. So the car budget is vey small. I will just race it as is and hope that nothing breaks. The items i want are more of a wish list at this stage.
It is going o.k, it's fairly neutral in it's handling. I think the stiff front end and long travel rear is probably a good thing to help keep the rear wheels on the ground around corners. It has about 20mm droop on the front and about 150mm on the rear.

Thanks, the 16's make it look a bit more modern.

I thought i would change the brake pads today. The fronts went in no worries. The rears are a different story. Turns out the rear calipers are siezed. And the rotors on the rear are very worn. So i am trying to get a set of new rotors for the rear and see if i can get the calipers rebuilt.

The front pads where a bit crumbly like they where about to fall apart. There are little bits missing from the pads, and half is glazed, while the other half is rough.

Stripes look good, would look even betten with a hardtop and stripes flowing though to the back.

If you want give me a call on 0410504737 let me know how much and when i can pick them up. It would be great to have it going, instead of sitting up on stands.

I only put them on to cover some flakey paint. I can't afford a hardtop. When i get a new bonnet i will do it again. And maybe the boot too.

I made a front spoiler to try and get a bit more front end grip. It looks ugly but it comes off easy with a couple of screws. I was thinking of doing a few laps with it on, then take it off and see if it makes any difference.
