New wheels and seat. Went to winton on friday and blew the power steering line and lost a couple of bolts from the turbo after a few laps. So couldn't race.

TURBO NA6 CLUBRACER -

Postby lightyear » Sun Oct 12, 2008 9:34 am

I went down to phillip island yesterday with the bmw guys. I was there before 8.00am and my first session was at 2:45 pm. They wouldn't let us on the track because there was no ambulance. It cost me over $300.00 and i did 9 laps. I did manage to lower my lap times to 1:57.1 from a 1:57.9 and that's with the turbo bolts loose again. Only running 4psi. I really need to fix it properly.

TURBO NA6 CLUBRACER - track pads for nb8b brakes

Postby lightyear » Tue Oct 28, 2008 8:54 pm

I have put a set of nb8b brakes all round with braided brake lines and rbf 600 brake fluid. (Thanks James)

They are suprisingly bigger - 2" or so...pics soon. I just need to know which pads would be most suitable for track use.

I was quoted a set for $640 but they have to be cut down. I would prefer a set made for these brakes.

I cant help with the pads, although the car looks great with the stickers and I really like the spoiler in side profile.

TURBO NA6 CLUBRACER - dynoed

Postby lightyear » Wed Nov 19, 2008 8:10 am

I took the car to AVO to get it tuned to 10psi, but it actually lost power. So i have to put on a new down pipe as it's too restrictive. But he said that with the new downpipe on i should see 150rwkw. It has 132rwkw now on 6.5 psi.

I saw your car at AVO last week Dan, wondered what you were up to. :D

What sort of dump is on there at the moment? And what sort of ECU are you running?

The dump pipe is shocking, the steel plate that bolts onto the back of the turbo just has a small pipe behind the turbine wheel, and the butterfly on the wastegate is hitting the steel plate. And it has 2 very tight 90* bends straight after the turbo to clear the firewall. So now it will have a 3" flanged, tapering down to a 2.5" to let the wastegate and turbine wheel to merge together. It is running a microtech. And it's david, not dan. I saw yours when i picked up mine. You probably saw my bike there too.

hey dave, it's funny you mention that because i remember talking to the guys at maztech in preston about your car (ages ago, back when glenn owned it). they did some of the work on the car (installed and tuned the ecu and a few other things i guess) , so as i was looking at getting a turbo at the time , naturally i went and spoke to them , AVO, and a few others.

but yeah they told me that the exhaust on the car was pretty bad and very restrictive (they didn't actually say which part tho, whether it was the manifold, dump pipe, pipes etc ), so they couldn't get a lot of power out of it when they did the tune. i had totally forgotten all about that!

sounds like your car will be a rocket once you get that new dump pipe on.
