...and $500 for a custom dump (to me) seems like a bargain.

well $500 for another 20kw's is not too bad is it.
Fatty, i wanted to put a full system on it when i did the exhaust a couple of weeks ago, but he said they would need the car for a whole day just for the dump pipe. And they didn't have time that day. Anyway, i will get a.v.o to do it as it has to be done right. The exhaust that was on it was all wrong, it even hit on the diff flange bolts that bolt to the axle. How much power are you getting now? Have you had any luck with the turbo bolts?

i'm still on 118rwkw. i haven't done any work to the engine since my last dyno, been fiddling with other things like clutch, brakes etc.
no luck with the turbo bolts yet but i am onto a guy who may prove helpful. if i get a good result, will let you know how i go.
the other thing i was thinking is that it may be a good idea to put a flex pipe in front of the cat, to take some of the vibration / load off the turbo / manifold. that should help stop the bolts shaking loose.

With the turbo bolts i bought stainless studs and screwed them down as tight as i could get them with vice grips. Then used a nail punch to hit it where the stud meets the manifold. Then bought some copper nuts with a slpit that squishes down. And retorqued the nuts after a few drives. Seems to be o.k. I will have to take it to the track to know for sure.

I never had my turbo come loose on the street.
Probably because you can't stay on boost for long, not if you like having a licence anyway.
Even going on spirited cruises through the spurs and the GOR it was fine.
I ended up with Inconel studs and copper nuts and that seemed to work OK.
Good luck with your fix, let us know how it goes.

I will find out tmrow if the turbo problem is fixed at P.I.
The 1.8 gearbox is in and the hawk blue pads are on. I just went out to bed the pads, and it is an amazing difference. It will take me a bit to get used to the new braking points. They seem to be about 3 times better.
Anyone else going??

Well the turbo stayed on. But the blow off valve blew off and the next time out the intercooler pipe came apart. But half way thru the day i got a good run and made no mistakes and did a p.b of 1.55.77. I was a little excited after that and pushed a bit too hard, might have been the ferrari challenge car that was doing similiar times to me, and right behind me. I came off at turn 1 and the back end went right out and spun around. Just touched the right side fence with the rear bumper. Did more damage to my front spoiler than anything. It was a really fun day, made all the better when people come up to me after having me pass them to see why they were overtaken by a little mx5. Even the guy in the ferrari came over.

TURBO NA6 CLUBRACER - new p.b at P.I ** 1:55 **

I was in 1600cc standard class untill an official came up and asked if my car was running the 1.6 motor and i told him i was, but turboed. Then they put me into 2001 - 3000cc modified class. I came 3rd in the class. But the other 2 cars that got 1st and 2nd where full on race cars compared to mine. 2nd place was only 0.1 seconds faster.

New p.b at phillip island again. I dropped .25 of a second. Now down to 1.55.52 from a 1.55.77. I think i can still go quicker by keeping it smoother. The oil cooler will need to go on before the next meet as she is getting a bit hot now. I also lost my front spoiler early on the day on turn 1 after coming off and getting a little flat spot on a couple of tyres. For some reason the car won't go around as fast as i want it to. I will be looking into some 225's as they are wider and might also help with better gearing.

Yes. They made a new one and it looks much better. Only problem so far is the complete exhaust falling off and it doesn't line up with the rest of the exhaust- so you have to really force it to line up to get the bolts in. I could hear the exhaust getting louder at the track and then the whole thing dropped on the ground. So i will have to take it back in the new year and see if they can fix it. The bill ended up being almost double because the turbo needed remounting as the bolts where coming loose again. And it only made a few kw's more as the tiny turbo is running at max. All up its close to 20kw's more from when i first bought it in.
