you can get louvres punched into your bonnet by any good hotrod shop @ about $2 a slot. Had it done to my MGB, looked the ducks nuts and kept the engine bay a lot cooler.
Damn nice looking 5 by the way.

You know, I didn't even click that it was Chip Foose. How sad that after all that time I spent watching almost anything car related on Foxtel...

Yea, the custom made route is looking more and more likely as time goes on.
Thanks by the way

Quick Update
Bought this hol(e)y headlight cover off xhonda_boy

Bought a db9-usb conversion cable so that my ECU can talk to my lappy
Spent a decent part of this afternoon stuffing about with drivers, com settings, etc; but eventually got it all working.
Plans for tomorrow are to do some before and after testing on both the headlight cover and the new intake system, using the intake temperature sensor/ecu/lappy.
Also two quick/crappy phone photos from the ACT MX5 club drive last week

I'm not sure if this will stick or not, but here's the build process anyway. Check out this thread if you're interested, I start in on page 7.
Bare intake pipe with no filter.

Theory is to seal off the passenger side of the engine bay from the left edge of that shelf.

Cardboard = win

The parts I needed to buy; 2mm sheet aluminium and jig saw blades.

Template traced on

Test fitting

Test fitting the foam.

Test fitting the filter and silicone joiner

The hole for the joiner to go through

Test fitting the joiner and the shield together

All together, complete with 5mm heat shielding foam on both sides of the aluminium

Nice CAI design
Only thing I find is the air has no where to escape so the bonnet often gets a wobble from all the air not being able to escape...

I agree. You'll need pressure differential to have air enter the vent. Otherwise you'll simply have pressure lock.
There's a couple of thread with good link to articles that talks about such topics.

I can see where you guys are coming from, but doesn't air leave the airbox to go into the engine?

The engine doesnt use the same amount that is flowing into the air box as such especially at higher speeds so therefore the air gets trapped and has no where to escape.

But by that logic, wouldn't that happen to any airbox with a large air feed?
And by air getting trapped, filling up the airbox and presumably increasing pressure; would that then create positive pressure at the filter head?

The reason for the plastic cover sealed with the silicone is for stopping water getting into your door trim.
The Dynamat itself becomes the new water seal.
Also Update
Bought a new bonnet today. Should be fitted soon

Talked to an assortment of audio shops and the consensus is to not bother with headrest speakers. The one shop that tried to convince me, eventually let me borrow and helped to install and test a pair of 3" Polks. While they did let me get the same volume level without the need to sound like a fully sic VL, they fair ruined the quality. This convinced me away from the headrest speakers all together.

It looks almost identical to mine when I first got it....black, the hyperfangs etc.
Mine has the black leather interior
