If you have not already done it get a cover note for Insurance( they will do this over the phone) - driving it without is a risk I would not consider. There are actually some technicalities to buying a car without rwc but you will work around I guess. Sounds like the trip was well worth the effort and have fun.

Congrats!
Disagree. Try driving without one at 5am in winter on the way to a dawn run! The heater blasts at your feet and the circulation of air sucks it all straight out past your left leg and arm.

unless of course you're in an NC, much more respectable heating system than the old clunkers

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

I am currently not driving it, it is locked away safely until I get it all fixed and transferred to my name.
as for not having a RWC, it remains in the previous owners name at the moment, and I will get the RWC done, then I will put the transfer papers through with the RWC.
so at the moment, it is physically mine, and contractually mine, however the registration papers and vicroads records are still in the sellers name.
I'm going to let the rego expire (tuesday) and just re-rego it, then I can get new plates.
as for windblocker, I felt absolutely no difference at all in regard to wind weather it was up or down.

hope you have checked it carefully . Odd that the guy did not pay his reg and I am not sure if you have extra charges and procedural requirements for a car that is unregistered after Tuesday or whether Vicroads give some "grace". If it were re registered there is no restriction in getting new personalised plates at anytime. If you have all paper work in order including disposal and acquisition RWC and pay transfer and stamp duty Vic Roads transfer it on the spot if you go in to a branch. I tend to be overcautious on these things.

I wont be able to come every week though, as I work Fridays, and live in the country.
So which part of country Vic do you live?

I have all the paperwork ready.
the seller was going to pay the rego, however I said to him that I would in exchange for a discount on price as I was changing plates anyway.
it's going in for a conditional RWC tonight (needs windscreen) and will be swapped over to my name on Thursday hopefully.
