Yesterday was the first club track event for the year :D . Well what an absolute hoot 8) . The supercharger, lightweight NB6 flywheel and NB8B 6-speed has certainly transformed the car....so much so that I really struggled to get my hand to position the gear knob where it needed to be to select the right gear in the first few sessions. A couple of times when I was shifting from 4th to 5th I found 3rd  and saw the tacho go well beyond 8,000 rpm....probably got close to 9,000 rpm for a split second   . Doesn't seem to have done any immediate damage.

As a result of the increase in peak power my terminal speed on the front straight and the short straight up to turn 6 has increased by around 20km/hr , but what I really loved was the huge amount of torque now available to real punch me out of all the corners. On average I dropped my PB's by over 1.5 seconds, however there is still a lot more in it as I wasn't entering turn 1 as quick as I was when the car was NA...I need to practice more to see how aggressive I can apply the power when exiting turn 1 and having a higher entry speed...and of course a general tidy up of all my lines and braking markers goes without saying.

Anyhow here's a couple of vids....the first one has me chasing 16bit.....the second one I have an open track. I got some other video snippets I put up later.

Cheers,
Danny
ps. no more bruising of my knees thanks to the MS seat and harness  .

Fantastic spin there. Isn't it thrilling to come out of such a manoeuvre unscathed!

Here's a similar one I enjoyed at Wakefield. Mine was intentional last lap shenanigans though.

Oh
I suppose I should've looked at the surroundings more...
I'd think going into turn 10 the wrong way would be a lot ballsier than turn 2. There isn't nearly as much kitty litter before a wall that way...

Sorry I have to back track a little

Image

did you remove all the paint of the lower part of the door?

Or did you just cut it back with sandpaper a little?

I'm talking about the ripply stuff on the lower part of the door ...you know the stuff that stops the stone chips.

Hi STM, no we didn't remove the "stone guard" from the lower half of the doors. We just prepped the surface a little and reapplied it where it was a bit thin. Then put the base colour straight over.

Danny

STM, probably Autobarn would have it....well anywhere you can by auto paint. Best bet would be to get it from an Auto Refinishing Supplies business.

Danny
