WOOT!

no need for me to get Vicroads to look at the car, because of the bushfires the rego is still valid, all I need to do is pay it, and put the transfer papers through!

It's all done!!

paperwork done, it's all in my name and everything!

went for a drive (I promised someone a ride when it was registered), was good, had a laugh at how small and low the car is, then we went through the Maccas drive through where the window was too high so I has to reach up to hand over the money

but great fun to drive!

steering is very direct and responsive, acceleration is good nice and linear, not a huge amount of torque, but no real issue since it's so light.

traction is really good, I booted it on a corner exit in 2nd and it just accelerated, no wheelspin, no slide, just off into the distance.

I am hugely impressed! Cant wait to save some cash up and hit Deca or Winton.

ok, Yesterday I cleaned the car's drains, turns out the driver's side rear drain was nearly completely blocked, causing water to pool on the rear parcel shelf and soak the carpet.

the passenger side was better, but still blocked.

after a few minutes of feeling around for the drain hole I grabbed some sprinkler tubing and worked it in there, after a bit of jiggling it all gave way, a big wad of brown rotted leaves and dirt fell out the drain exit, followed by all the water.
result, drains clear, no more water in car!

now that the car was watertight I could set about cleaning it.

here's the result:

there are a few bug on it in the pics, but that's because I drove out to the local resort thing for the first few pics and then out to the Winery for the second few.

used Megs Gold class wash, Mother's convertible top cleaner, Aquatouch MF wash mitt, Waffle weave drying towel, waxed with OCW.

Hey there,

i do believe i know you from the Exe Crew forums. Have seen you there, at least.

"Welcome to the obession" as they like to say around here, and it's certainly a suitable welcome.

Really enjoy reading your thread, it's nice to go through the new ownership experience again, since the joys of such are so similar to my experience, and I'm sure they echo many others on here as well.

Matt

yep, I'm that same guy off exe forums :D

btw, if you have read this thread dont bother reading the exe one, it's mostly copy-paste.

I must say, I do love your NC. it looks brilliant, sits perfectly, and all your modifications are subtle, small, but purposeful.

Really, you are too kind! But please direct all comments/praise/criticisms to my thread :D

So - with the purchase of the NB, where does that leave the Mondeo? I take it the NB was sought out with trackdays in mind? Not to mention weekends, b-roads, "going to get the milk be back in an hour!" trips :D

exactly, the Mondeo keeps it's duties to get me to work and uni classes, it's quieter, more secure, more comfy, and better on fuel.

Huge congtrats, hks! Our cars may have been separated at birth ( a year apart... :D ). Some of my pics are identical to yours. It's spooky.
Well, there is a lot of love in the house where I am since I first drove my Twilight '99 a few months ago and I still drive around smiling and pinching myself. I felt for you as I read the saga of rego etc. I couldn't imagine not being able to drive mine after getting it home. I did nearly 2000 k's in the first few weeks without really going anywhere!! Next time you're driving along with the top down I'll probably be doing the same just as thrilled... still. Zoom, zoom.
Cheers,
Ando
