be prepared though, you may need to get into some very awkward positions to reach properly.


also remember to check the other drains on the windscreen, when the door is open you will see a rubber seal on teh windscreen frame, on the side will be a little flappy/scoop bit (about where the triangle glass tip is), there will be a hole at the bottom of the scoop thing which directs water down through the rubber seal (it's hollow) and out in the door sill, check it's clean too, it will probably be fine though, it's not as easy for dirt and stuff to get into the windscreen seal.

ok, still looking around for wheels, I'm not anywhere near making a purchase, just seeing what's out there that catches my eye.

so far there have been two more that have caught my attention:

both manufactured by Performance Alloy Wheels (an Aussie company)

the first is called "V-Tek"

15x6.5

the next is called "Challenger"

any ideas on these ones?

you guessed well, I just searched

they look great on the NA, but I'm unsure of how they would look on an NB, I still need to jump onto photoshop and test.

the V-Tek is nice and more modern looking (I would spray the centres in graphite colour or something)

but the Challenger is more unique, but being a more classic design may look out of place on the NB.

ok, today's updates:

#1: Finally fitted the gear shift surround, fits well, looks damn good.

fits nice and flat once screwed down, screws were sexy little countersunk ones too!





#2: Gave engine bay a dodgy clean, just dusted and cleaned off most of the coolant overflow (not from spillage, but gauge has never showed overheating?)

well it turns out it wasnt a wheel bearing, I was running low on power steering fluid

Becareful....... The challengers may not suit the car. The wheel you choose will "make" the look of the car. I Cant stress how important it is to get it right.
I cant tell you what wheels to buy because everyone has different style.
Easiest way to work out the best wheel for you is to follow these steps....

1. Find pictures of CAR's that have after market wheels that you like the look of (not just mx5's) try to pick cars with similar style/shape eg...the FD mazda rx7 i think has similar bulging curves...your just looking mainly for the style of car you like the look of eg- hot4's look, JDM, retro, blingy, racecar.... a good place to start looking is http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?t=3016

2. Look at the supporting mods that make the car and its wheels look good... eg lowered, bodykit, flared/rolled guards, bolt/glue on guard flares, colour of the wheel (pay attention to colours not so much the colour of the car but more so the wheel, this can also make or break the look....)
How far are you willing to go and how much are you happy to spend to achieve the look you like??? It may be more than just wheels you have to buy to make your car achieve the look you want.

3. Learn about "offset" .....the same wheel in different offsets can look great or horrible and do the same thing to your car !!...... the "challenger" is one of them! Buddyclub make some nice wheels in decent sizes......Though the "performance" superlite is my favorite.

i dont think challengers would suit the NB body lines at all, they do look decent on an NA, but not spectacular.

basically what I want mainly is the following:

15"
max 7" wide (max I can legally go)
sit under guard without the need for cutting or any major changes (minor guard rolling is fine)


as for style, I would like a bit of a lip, not necessarily massive dish like MXHEVN, but a bit of a lip.
I'm also leaning towards the exposed bolt look of 2/3 piece wheels as well and sort of an old fashioned look too.

I quite like the Konig rewind and Konig BBomb (yes, knockoffs I know blah blah)
the only issue is that the Aussie Konig dealer is Ozzy Tyres or something in Sydney, who seem more concerned with "can you fit 20" chromies on it and paint it in Candy paint?"

I started on my plan for the Reflectors.

Before images:




fresh out of the box from Perth (thanks Marcus) and just given a quick wash.


During:




Lettering removed via wetsanding with 400grit paper. It was very easy, and only took about 5mins for each one.

how they now sit:



the 400grit has indeed made them dull, but they still reflect.

If you wanted you could continue on with smoother papers and get them clear again, but for my purposes the dull cloudyness is what I want.

tune in next time when I attack them with a coat of primer and wetsand with 800grit.



oh, btw, which are front and rear? one pair have a foam backing on them, are they for the front or rear?

the sanding?

the sanding removes the raised letters off the reflectors so that dirt and stuff cant collect in there.

however I am going to be painting my reflectors to the car's colour.
