Patchy's Labour of love
well...the news is....Mrs StanTheMan & I have spent the Paintjob money on other things like kids education Teeth & so on. Patchy also need new shock & Tyres before Christmas. So I've been contemplating another dodgy paintjob. Although I draw a fair amount of attention the way it is at the moment. I consider myself grown up man & shouldn't be driving around in a multicoloured & patchy car for too long.
So the aim today was to see the effect of 3 different matt colours. Matt Black. Satin Black & Matt yellow. I even considered grey primer with a clear coat.
remeber this?

I consider this version of Patchy the sexiest. The consideration was to cover it with primer & then cover it with Clear to seal the primer. I love the matt finish look. I know its probably a passing fad. But then I can just sand back the clear coat & cover it with red when the time comes.
So......on another Private forum someone suggested a filler primer in a different colour. So this morning I went shopping.
The shopping list was simple. Various grades of wet & dry. Filler primer. Satin Black. Matt black. & some cheap paint for the guide coat. Clear coat.
Let me assure you both blacks.....with & without the clear coat was to difficult to get a reasonable result.
The passenger fender was the experiment for the Filer primer. The passenger Lightcover was the experiment for the Blacks.
The blacks were pretty ordinary & I didn't even take a pic. The lightcover was then sanded back to original clour & then covered with filler primer & eventually with a few coats of clear to seal it.

I know she'll never be a Malibu.....the colour is a fair amount different. Probably a tad more mustard....but its also matt rather than shiny.
Here is the latest pic

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

No ran out of paint today......yellow & clear.

Well I had another huge day. Fixing things up & getting things ready.
perfect day for painting
The bonnet was sanded back with 1000 grid for another coat of clear.
but there had to be something dodgy. It just wouldn't be that same without doing something real dodgy.
I couln't get one of the bolts open on the headlight cover so I left it on & just painted around it. But also had to use a dodgy power pack which was spewing solid bits.

You can sort of see the solid bits this pressure pack was spewing out. So it dried for 4 hrs & sanded back withn 1 quick finaql coat of primer out of a good pressure pack.

I'd also run out of clear by that stage so the front bumper got exactly the same treatment. The frontbumper is unfinished.....I just ran out of paint.

and everything back together until next time.

more surprise coming soon
