I'll be debuting my new 2F NA after six months on the sidelines, can't wait!

Driving solo, so I should get plenty of laps over the weekend to sort out the car :mrgreen:

August 7th-9th.

It's a round of the Shannons National Series, so there should be some good racing. The 1hr race is on the Sunday.

What a hoot. Had a great weekend and managed to finish on the podium for 2F. Thanks to Paul for offering me the drive. Thanks to the whole Bonnano crew for the encouragment and help throughout the weekend - Fish, Cal, Nick and Tony.

Great to catch up with familiar faces from the Nationals and meet some new people too.

See you all at the next one.

Yes it was a pleasure to help you guys ....and great to see you get the result all be it in leui of my car self destructing
Geoff proved he will be a force to be reckoned with in a quick car and Paul kept on improving all weekend which was awesome !!!

I am going to try and drive oran and Phillip Island with Tony ...

would be great to see you guys down there !!!!

PS...... Also thanks to you 2 for helping out with my gearbox !!

Good on ya Boags. Great result for your first 1hr.

We had a shocker in the PJ Murphy Smash Repairs/Valley Car Clinic 2B turbo. I blew the gearbox on the 4th lap of Friday practice. got it changed in time for Nick's go. Times were good.

Qualifying was good with Nick in 4th and me in 6th.

First race Nick took the lead from 4th into the 1st corner. Held it for a lap and a half before having a coming together with another MX5 which was nobody's fault So DNF race one.

Fixed the car for race 2 and I came from 6th to finish 4th, so a result.

In the hour race Nick snagged a curb in the flip flop and pulled the tyre off the rim. He pitted and I ran back to the garage to get a tyre, jack, rattle gun ect (big thanks to Corey for lugging the jack and tyre up to pit lane). Our radio had stopped working, so poor Nick had no idea what we were doing. We lost 4.40 and 3 laps. He continued on until about 35 mins when I took over. I just lapped consistently trying not to hassle the gearbox and we bought it home 12th. Shame as looking at the times and how we were going, we probably would have got 3rd outright.

Very much looking forward to Oran Park.

Yeah well done Geoff, good consistent drive.

I was glad just to get the new car through the weekend without any issues. Finally got the last signature on my PC licence so I'm good for the upgrade to the NC licence, and ready for Bathurst next year.

Now to start on the engine and drivetrain mods. Should have a new rear diff, intake, radiator, ECU and tune before the next Top Gear meeting at Lakeside in September, so that's a start. Hopefully pull the stock engine about November and have the "new" engine, clutch, flywheel & exhaust etc in around the beginning of next year.

Undecided yet.

I'm not necessarily going to be chasing the most power, reliability and drivability will be more important.

Priority 1 was keeping the car out of the walls and away from other cars (which was difficult a few times - I missed the BMW by half a bees tadger and Ed in the Porsche missed me by less than half a bees tadger!!!). Second priority was being smooth and consistent. My smooth laps were the quickest - when I tried to push harder I got sloppy and missed apexes.

Was very happy to get to low 13s. Will have to get it into the 12s next time.

Unfortunately I can't get to Oran Park (will be scuba diving in Vanuatu) - but Paul has offered me the pax seat for PI in November. Now I just need to sell a few MX5s so I can afford it! :twisted:
