I would have to say the LSD, Sway Bars and Bushes.

Also 6 Speed into an NA6 was great.

MAZDASPEED CF gear knob.... perfect fit in the hand, perfect throw weight and it desnt get hot in the sun like the voodoo.

LSDs are awesome.

the best thing you could do to your car though is a set of TEINs, their whole MX-5 rnge is good, not cheap but dont waste your time on anything else.

signature or whiteline sways are very good.

A good cold air intake that doesnt involve butchering the firewall

and of course the exhaust, on a naturally asp car 2.1/4" stainless with a good set of headers is ideal

For US$110 delivered i recently got two 28 pin EPROM chips & chipped an already socketed '93-'95 NA8 ECU. You get a stock chip with a 7200rpm rev limit (you pick the rev limit) & a race chip also with 7200rpm rev limit (again you pick the rev limit) mapped for MX5 Mania/ Loch Stewart style Simota CAI, complete Loch Stewart style exhaust system, & Monster Flow style intake crosspipe for a reported 10hp gain with factory timing of 10 degrees BTDC. So this modification doesn't factor in any gain from bumping timing to 14 or so degrees BTDC. Complete socketed ECUs or socketed ECU PCB & components are also available, so it's up to you how you want to approach the modification.

In the US this modification is only suited to the '94-'95 NA8, so read '93-'95 inclusive NA8 here in Australia. It's also applicable to the European '94-'95 1.6, but not the '89-'93 NA6 in any market. US NA6 owners looked at replicating this modification, but decided Megasquirt was best, given hardware & remapping complications.

US '96-'97 NA8 & NB8 owners are also unable to take advantage of this mod due to their OBDII ECUs, but given we didn't get OBDII until the NB8B, there's a chance it might work here even though we got the revised 16 bit ECU. EDIT: After examining our NB8A ECU the modification is not applicable as it doesn't use a 28 or 32 pin EPROM, however have yet to determine if it's applicable to the Australian delivered '96-'97 NA8.

Would greatly appreciate if someone could post a pic of the inside of an Australian delivered '96-'97 NA8 ECU to determine above applicability.

Also, bought a cheap eprom reader/ writer & blank chips off ebay, so any map adjustments made can be reburned to a new blank or erased chip.

The Remus exhaust, 68 rwkw, 110 Nm of torque, 0 to 100 in under three seconds a weight saving of about 6kgs and some serious noise, and for the car, a full alignment performed by someone who is interested in what it's all about rather than a "technician".

Hardtop. You can see out the back without having to reach around the rollbar and unzip the window and the car looks so much better with it on.

Voodoo knob was a revelation, with the stock Nardi knob the gearshift felt notchy and crappy even after changing the grease and the spacer thing (was a long time ago now), put the Voodoo on and it felt perfect.

Stance GR+ coilovers. Mainly because none of you have them :p I'm not entirely convinced that they have made any difference handling wise over the stock Clubman springs and Bilsteins (prob better than the Clubman Bilsteins with Kings springs though) but it was fun for a while to be able to run the car really low. Over that now though

My best new (and cheap) modification is a full cold air ram intake, I fitted an NB8B front bar to my NB8A and have utilised one of the fog lamp holes as a ram air intake with sealed 75mm ducting all the way to the air filter - it is only possible with Morette headlamps which permit full access through the hole which is normally underneath the standard headlamp.
